Event #41 Results

Of all the Pot-Limit Omaha tournaments in the 2021 PokerStars Michigan Championship of Online Poker, Wednesday night's Event #41: $250 PLO [6-Max High Roller], 20K Gtd was the largest in terms of both buy-in and prize pool. When all was said and done, "grandma1967" was the one to top the field of 108 for the top prize of $5,876, more than 23% of the overall $25,164 prize pool.

"grandma1967" came into the final table of seven with the chip lead, doing so after their second-place stack found a full double against then-chip leader "RaceC19" with two tables remaining. They were then responsible for half of the knockouts at the final table, with the last elimination being the one to seal the deal.

Event Recap

Twenty-two players were in from the beginning of the event, a number that rose steadily until late registration closed some two hours and 40 minutes later. Shortly after that mark, "grandma1967" had ascended to a top-five stack. They climbed into the top three when the tournament reached the bubble, and then into second place after eliminating "PintiMellon" in 13th place shortly thereafter.

By the time the final table was reached, they were back in second as "Neckerson" rode a heater that claimed the tenth-through-eighth place eliminations to take the chip lead into the final table. That heater also claimed the tournament life of "beardedbadger" in seventh before "grandma1967" took back the reigns, sending "JVoorhees187" and Andrew "autokorekt" Korby out to reduce the field to five.

"zozopots" then got in on the fun, earning the next two knockouts of "Mithlin" and "Neckerson" to climb back into the discussion with 40% of the chips to begin the heads-up match. However, fate was such that "grandma1967" would be the one to shine, making swift work of "zozopots" to claim the title and its accompanying top prize.50

PokerNews will be back Thursday for another evening of tournament coverage, featuring Event #44: $250 NLHE [Progressive KO, Thursday Thrill SE], $50K Gtd. Make sure to come back then for upates on all the knockout action as it unfolds.

"zozopots" Eliminated in 2nd Place ($4,434)

"zozopots"
"zozopots"

In Level 27 with blinds of 10,000/20,000, "zozopots" had gotten down to 140,984 and three-bet shoved in the big blind over an open to 60,000 from "grandma1967", who was on the button and matched the difference.

"zozopots": {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
"grandma1967": {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

"zozopots" saw their tens up against queens and despite hitting a set of tens on the flop {q-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{10-Clubs}, only found themselves further behind as "grandma1967" also flopped a set of queens. They needed to hit a king or ten to stay alive and failed to do so as the turn {2-Hearts} and river {3-Clubs} came to complete the runout and earn "grandma1967" all the chips in play.

"zozopots" earned $4,434 for their runner-up finish, while "grandma1967" has won the top prize of $5,876. A recap of the event will be posted shortly.

In Level 26 with blinds of 8,000/16,000, "Neckerson" opened to 32,000 on the button and was three-bet to 104,000 by "zozopots" in the big blind. "Neckerson" called.

The flop came {9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{10-Spades} and "zozopots" made a pot-sized bet of 216,000. "Neckerson" called all in for less, totaling 203,878 and both players' hands were shown in preparation for the remainder of the runout.

"Neckerson": {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}
"zozopots": {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{2-Spades}

"Neckerson" had flopped the nuts but the turn {j-Diamonds} gave "zozopots" the new nuts with a king-high straight. However, "Neckerson" still had six outs to a full house should a jack, ten, or seven hit, but unfortunately for them the river {3-Spades} left them unimproved and they were eliminated in third place as a result.

Heads-up play has now begun between "grandma1967" and "zozopots", with the former holding roughly 60% of the chips in play to begin the match.

"Mithlin"

In Level 25 with blinds of 7,000/14,000, a limped family pot brought about a flop of {5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. Action checked to "zozopots", who was on the button and bet 42,000 into 56,000. Only "Mithlin" check-called, doing so from the cutoff.

Action was then heads up to the turn {3-Clubs} and Mithlin checked again. "zozopots" fired another shell for 126,000 and "Mithlin" check-jammed for 289,301. "zozopots" called.

"Mithlin": {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
"zozopots": {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}

When stacks got in, "zozopots" had the flopped nuts but still needed to fade flush outs and the three remaining nines that would bring about a chop. The river {4-Hearts} was safe and they earned the pot and the knockout, eliminating "Mithlin" in fourth place as a result.

"J_Voorhees187": {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
"grandma1967": {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades}

"J_Voorhees187" found their kings, gutshot straight draw, and second nut-flush draw up against a different gutshot, the nut flush draw, and a pair of nines. One pair became two for "grandma1967" on the turn {3-Clubs}, putting them out in front where they would remain through the river {5-Spades} to send "J_Voorhees187" out in sixth.
