Korby's Tournament Ends After Two Bricks

In Level 18 with blinds at 8,000/16,000/2,000, action folded to Andrew "autokorekt" Korby who raised all in for 116,462 from the hijack and "georgejanssen" isolated after three-betting to 216,924 from the button.

"georgejanssen": {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Andrew "autokorekt" Korby: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Korby was behind looking to get lucky after the {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} flop appeared with three diamonds giving him the flush draw.

Unfortunately for Korby, his luck had run out after two bricks came {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} to complete the board and ended his tournament.

"ShortGME" Sends Two Packing

In Level 24 with blinds at 25,000/50,000/6,000, "NJF1985" raised to 185,000 from early position, "eyewantoowin" three-bet all in for 533,758 from the next seat over and "ShortGME" came over the top for 846,628 from the big blind.

Action was back on "NJF1985" who called off their 365,752 and the three players were off to the races.

"NJF1985": {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
"ShortGME": {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
"eyewantoowin": {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

"ShortGME" was ahead with their made hand and improved after a nine appeared in the window on the {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop.

The {4-Spades} turn left "eyewantoowin" drawing dead while "NJF1985" needed a ten on the river to stay alive but it came the {q-Spades} and "ShortGME" eliminated both players.

"smftt" Making Late Push for Chip Lead

In Level 27 with blinds at 40,000/80,000/10,000, "jamblance75" opened for 160,000 from under the gun and "aimario24" three-bet all in for 664,837 from the hijack.

Action was on "smftt" who called from the cutoff and "jamblance75" came along as well to see a {3-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop appear.

"jamblance75" led out for 1,092,256 before calling the 2,928,797 all in raise from "smftt"

"smftt": {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
"aimario24": {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
"jamblance75": {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

All three players held made hands but "smftt" held the best one and neither the {4-Hearts} turn nor the {2-Spades} river changed a thing as "smftt" won the massive pot putting them in contention to end the night as the chip leader.

"smftt" Takes Chip Lead as 43 Advance to Day 2

Day 1 of the MICOOP Main Event has wrapped up for the night after seven and a half hours of play. The $200K guarantee was reached in the early stages of the tournament and the $359,520 prize pool became official after 1,284 total entries (882 entries and 402 re-entries) were logged.

Once registration had ended, only 484 players remained and each knew they needed to make it into the top 179 to receive a piece of the prize pool.

Many notable players showed up to take a shot at a MICOOP title with many failing to find the run good needed, which included Jason "TheRealClozer" Kapoor, PMatthew "Luna_Nova21" Davis, Andrew "autokorekt" Korby and Henry "xlzou1990" Zou.

The virtual bodies continued to fall and in Level 20 "TTV JThrizz" bubbled the tournament leaving the remaining 179 players in the money. From there, the very few familiar names were still remaining, started to drop from the field as Jason "TheRealClozer" Kapoor (143th Place - $649), Matt "FukDaRivereh" Boulton (104th Place - 783.75), Steve "Gamerguy123456" Caswell (97th Place - $946.50), and Corey "Chewmonsta2503" John (96th Place - $946.50) all got a piece of the prize pool but fell short of a Day 2 birth.

Play continued with only 43 players remaining at the hard stop for Day 1 with "smftt" winning a late pot to soar to the top of the chip counts with a whopping 10,535,155. Rounding out the top five stacks include "PintiMellon" (8,084,861), "Camelcack" (8,043,805), "smileybpoker" (6,820,038), and "BeetlejuiceHere" (5,774,879).

Day 2 of the Main Event will start Monday, March 8, at 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST), and PokerNews will be providing updates until an eventual champion is crowned. Blinds will remain 15-minutes in length and action will commence where Day 1 ended in Level 27 (40,000/80,000/10,000).

Make sure to come back to PokerNews tomorrow to find out who will be crowned the inaugural MICOOP Main Event Champion.
