Day 1 Completed
On Sunday, the second day of the 2020 NJCOOP continued with Event #5: $200 NLHE [Sunday Special SE], $40K GTD. The tournament attracted 136 players who rebought 57 times, which meant the 193-entry field resulted in the advertised $40,000 prize pool. That will be paid out to the top 26 players with the eventual winner taking home a $7,940.59 first-place prize.
After nearly eight hours of play, it was "mrblonde2020" coming out on top to win the tournament for $7,940.59. "mrblonde2020" began the final table in the middle of the pack but built up throughout the final table. Still, he always seemed to be behind "Mummy's Bitch", who was the chip leader for much of the final table.
However, during heads-up play "mrblonde2020" came on strong despite starting down 2:1 in chips. A couple of doubles saw him take over the chip lead, and not long after it was over when both players flopped two pair, with the kicker making all the difference.
|3||Brian "Wsopboy1997" Sherrier||$4,585.46|
|5||Joe "LCC102515" Cappuccio||$2,647.99|
Others to finish in the top 26 and make the money were "TiltedHard" (10th - $726.44), "moosedeer17" (13th - $726.44), Michael "[email protected]" Gagliano (16th - $597.60), Mike "mmenz08816" Menzer (20th - $491.62), and "pharmaDoogie" (26th - $491.62).
The NJCOOP series, which will run through October 26, features $1 million in total guarantees across 54 events.

The crown jewel of the series is of course the $300 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event, which boasts a $125,000 guarantee. That one takes place Sunday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. local time.
It'll be accompanied by a smaller $50 No-Limit Hold'em Mini Main Event, with a $25,000 guarantee.
Players who enjoy non-hold'em formats will also have plenty to choose from. There are several pot-limit Omaha events, including a $500 six-max high roller. There's even $100 Pot-Limit Badugi, $100 H.O.R.S.E. and $100 5-Card PLO.
PokerStars NJ is also committed to giving frustrated players extra value via freeroll tickets. Those who get eliminated shy of the money will be given tickets into events awarding more NJCOOP seats.
With the blinds at 80,000/160,000/20,000, "mrblonde2020" limped the button and "Mummy's Bitch" check their option to see a flop.
"Mummy's Bitch" checked, "mrblonde2020" bet 160,000, and "Mummy's Bitch" check-raised to 480,000. "mrblonde2020" responded by moving all in and "Mummy's Bitch" called off the 2,272,104 they had behind.
Both players had flopped two pair but "mrblonde2020" had the better kicker. That made all the difference after the running turn and river completed the board.
"Mummy's Bitch" has had "mrblonde2020" all in and at risk on several occasions, but the latter has shipped several doubles to not only stay alive, but now pull out to a chip lead.

Brian "Wsopboy1997" Sherrier:
Sherrier got it in good but fell way behind when the flop paired "Mummy's Bitch". The turn made it trip aces, and the river would be the last card Sherrier would see in Event #5.
