In the 881st episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway, Kyna England, and Mike Holtz discuss the controversy out of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit stop in which the third-place finisher actually held the best hand against Maurice Hawkins, who went on to win the tournament for a record-tying 18th gold ring.
The crew also dive into the wild tale of Michigan poker player George Janssen, who last year claimed to have been kidnapped and extorted by the cartel. But now, the FBI is telling a different story, one involving fraud and millions of dollars. Find out what the four-time WSOPC ring winner and MSPT champ allegedly did.
Other stories covered include Fedor Holz saying WSOP bans are coming for online cheaters, GGPoker cancelling their $5M GTD tournament on Day 2, Jeremy Ausmus and others capturing Triton Poker titles, Daniel Negreanu taking down a PGT Mixed Game tournament, and the unfortunate passing of poker player Mark Toulouse during a tournament at Texas Card House Dallas.

Ioannis Salonikis on the button had raised a bet of 3,000 to 12,600 on a flop of 4♠10♣7♦. Erich Tedeschi called in early position before Michail Manolakis three-bet to 43,000.
Salonikis mucked his cards before Tedeschi called off his stack of 28,100.
Erich Tedeschi: Q♥10♣
Michail Manolakis: A♠2♠
Tedeschi made trips on the 10♥ turn and Manolakis' flush draw bricked on the 9♣ river, doubling up the Frenchman.

Small blind Thomas Hofmann bet 5,000 into a pot of 15,000 on a flop of Q♠5♦9♣. Marc Fischer sat in the cutoff and raised Hofmann all-in for 16,000 in total.
Hofmann weighed his options for a bit but ultimately stuck in a call.
Thomas Hofmann: J♠J♥
Marc Fischer: 9♠8♦
Hofmann's pair of jacks remained ahead on the 4♠ turn, but the 9♥ river made Fischer trips to secure the knockout and rake in the pot.

On a flop of 7♣6♣2♥, Terrance Reid checked from early position to Ettore Cuzzone on the button, who added 3,500 to the pot of 8,000.
Reid called to the 3♠ turn, where he called Cuzzone's sized-up bet of 8,500 as well. The Q♣ then hit the river, seeing Cuzzone pile in 21,000 after a third check from Reid.
Reid peeked at his cards one last time before tossing in calling chips. Cuzzone could only table king-high with K♠9♠. Reid had rivered top pair with his A♠Q♦ and took down the sizable pot.

Alex Sampirisi raised to 1,500 under the gun and was called by Tomas Jauring in the neighboring seat. Vincenzo Suriano then tossed in his final 3,000 from the small blind, seeing Samprisi four-bet to 14,500.
That was not enough for Jauring, who five-bet jammed his stack of 47,500 and was snapped off by Sampirisi.
Vincenzo Suriano: A♦J♣
Tomas Jauring: A♥Q♦
Alex Sampirisi: A♠K♣
Sampirisi had both opponents dominated. The 7♦10♣5♠7♥ turn brought some chop outs, but the Q♣ river propelled Jauring to the win.
He made top pair to scoop the huge pot, eliminating Suriano and leaving Sampirisi with a little over a starting stack.

Paulo Florido in middle position committed his stack of 10,000 into a pot of roughly the same size on a flop of K♠7♦Q♥. Dario Barone looked him up in the cutoff, creating a showdown.
Paulo Florido: J♥10♥
Dario Barone: K♥Q♦
Barone's two pair remained best throughout the 5♣2♣ runout. Florido could not hit his straight draw and was sent to the rail.
