Who'll Win the Palme d'Or of the 2025 PokerStars Open Cannes Main Event?
Every spring for more than 85 years, actors, directors, producers, and spectators from all around the world gather at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès for the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
This week, however, the legendary red carpet and its 24 steps will not be walked by the film industry, but by some of the best poker players in the world for the 2025 PokerStars Open Cannes. Like a closing ceremony, the festival concludes a successful 2025 season just before Christmas and offers the opportunity to end the year in the best possible way.
French player Clément Delacroix has already done just that by winning the opening €2,200 High Roller from a total of 162 entries for €72,760. But the best is yet to come with the €1,100 PSO Main Event, which started Wednesday, December 17, with Day 1a and Day 1b, followed by Day 1c and Day 1d the following day.
Across these four starting flights, 1,125 entries were recorded, with late registration still open until the beginning of Day 2. This allowed the prize pool to already surpass the €1,000,000 guarantee. But who will take the biggest share of it?
France’s Michel Marcone had the best start so far by finishing Day 1c as the chip leader with 434,500, followed by Day 1a’s biggest stack, Joseph Benedetti (353,500). On Day 1b, Julien Sitbon led the pack with 186,500, while Ahmad Niazi bagged 286,000 chips on Day 1d. Overall, 370 players qualified for Day 2 through the four starting flights.
