Chip Leader Kawa Tells Stack Tale

Level 18 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Isaac Kawa
Isaac Kawa

Chip leader Isaac Kawa has kindly informed PokerNews of the story behind his stack.

He registered in Day 2, and got aces and kings in the first two hands, securing full double-ups on both occasions.

He has then had two further pairs of aces, four pocket kings, and five pocket queens, none of which have caused him any heartache.

"When you're lucky, you just have to admit it" laughed Kawa.

"I got my stack through skill", joked David Docherty.

Bettioui Bets Out Docherty

Level 17 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

There was an open, before David Docherty produced a three-bet to 19,000. Jaaefar Bettioui cold-called on the button, and the opener folded.

On the 1022 flop, Docherty checked-called in the face of a bet of 19,000 from his opponent.

The 4 hit on the turn, and Docherty checked once more. Bettioui immediately jammed with the covering stack, and Docherty burst out laughing.

"How can you jam here?", he mused, pulling up his jacket over his face. He then again started laughing to himself.

Docherty spent a good further two minutes in the tank, but ultimately folded.

YANG XIAOHUA

Christopher Martinez opened to 8,000 from the cutoff, and called off for his total stack of 140,000 versus a three-bet to 400,000 from Xiaohua Yang in the small blind.

Christopher Martinez: AK All in
Xiaohua Yang: AJ

Martinez was in a dominating position, and ace-king high was good enough across the 74265 runout.

"I'd bet my house, wife, and kids with ace-king", the Frenchman joked as he raked in the pot.

Straight over Set Crazy Cooler for Van Dijk

Level 17 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Stan van Dijk
Stan van Dijk

Around 60,000 was in the middle in a four-way pot, between Francois Frejdles under the gun, Jack Edjourian in middle position, and Stan Van Dijk and Marijus Dirgela in the blinds.

The flop read 532. Action was checked to Frejdles, who slid out a bet of 10,000. Edjourian raised to 25,000, before Van Dijk check-jammed for 167,000.

As if that wasn't enough action, Dirgela then spent at least two seconds in the tank, saying "Sorry guys" on a number of occasions, before ultimately folding.

Frejdles followed suit, but Edjourian, although he didn't look overly pleased, made the call for his total stack of 140,000.

Jack Edjourian: 33 All in
Stan Van Dijk; 64

In a brutal cooler, it was middle set versus the flopped straight, and Edjourian could not fill up on the 97 runout.

"Good game guys", said Edjourian as he tapped the table and took his leave.
