Norman Moncrief raised to 400 from under the gun, and John Renzi promptly three-bet to 1,400 as next to act. Ryan McCarroll made the call in the big blind, and Moncrief came along to the 6♥4♣K♣ flop.
McCarroll and Moncrief checked to Renzi, who continued for 600. McCarroll folded before Moncrief check-raised to 1,500.
Renzi called to the K♥ turn, where both players checked. Moncrief then led out for 3,000 on the 5♦ river, and Renzi thought it over before sliding his cards to the dealer.
"I wouldn't lie to you," Moncrief said as he showed the K♦ while raking in the pot.
Anthony Calabrese raised to 400 from under the gun, finding a call from Jason Rivkin in the cutoff.
Calabrese continued for 800 on the 5♠5♣8♥ flop, and Rivkin called to see the 9♣ turn. Calabrese slid out a bet of 2,500, and Rivkin replied with a raise to 9,500.
After taking some time, Calabrese tossed his cards into the muck and Rivkin collected the pot.
Walter Euken opened to 300 in the cutoff, and Frank Kent defended his big blind to the 2♥3♣7♣ flop.
Kent led out for 600, and Euken made the call. The Q♦ turn saw Kent check, and Euken fired a 1,000 chip into the middle.
That was enough to claim an early pot, as Kent let his hand go.
