There was a raise in middle position to 1,000. It then folded to Evan Cutler in the small blind who called and the big blind came along too.
The 2♥2♠6♥ flop hit the felt and action quickly checked through to a 2♦ turn. Cutler took the opportunity to lead out for 1,500. The big blind folded but the middle position player came along.
The river landed a 10♣ and Cutler led again for 3,200. The middle position player then raised to 8,000.
"Did you really check an overpair on the flop?" Cutler said, but after a moment he put in the chips for a call.
HIs opponent said "Good call," and rolled over A♦Q♣. Cutler tabled A♣10♠ for a rivered boat and scooped a nice pot early in the day.

The hand was picked up looking at a flop of J♣Q♠K♥ and Matthew Gruda was in the big blind and checked to a player in late position, who put out a bet of 1,500. Gruda called.
The turn brought an A♥ putting a four-liner to a straight on board. Gruda checked again and the player in position bet out for 3,000. Gruda sat in the tank for a moment before check-raising to 10,000. His opponent went into the tank for a moment but ultimately returned his cards to the dealer.
Gruda dragged the pot and won another hand just before break to put him over 100,000 in chips.

Players are now on a 15-minute break.
On the latest PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway, Connor Richards, and Matt Hansen catch you up to speed on what's been happening at EPT Barcelona, Daniel Negreanu defeating Doug Polk on High Stakes Duel, and the return of PokerStars' North American Poker Tour (NAPT).
They also delve into the Global Poker US Poker Open (USPO), tell you about the first winner from the the PokerStars Summer Series, cover two big hands involving pocket queens from the past week, and debate arguably the hottest topic of the week — would you pay back $20K after a player grossly misread his hand and called off on the river (which actually happened on Hustler Casino Live)?
As for a guest, Connor and Matt were at EPT Barcelona and caught up with Tom Orpaz, a high-stakes real estate entrepreneur who in his spare time can be found grinding the EPT High Roller circuit. Orpaz, who made headlines in 2020 for purchasing the most expensive apartment in the world, went on a tear at EPT Barcelona that saw him winning €25,000 No-Limit Hold'em and €50,000 Super High Roller Second Chance for two trophies and over $1 million in winnings, proving he can hold his own among the top pros. PokerNews caught up with Orpaz, who has proven to be one of the most entertaining and talkative players on typically reserved High Roller Circuit.

There was a limp to 400 under the gun by Sheri Moores. It then folded to a player in middle position who put in a raise to 1,500. The cutoff called, button called, and Moores completed.
The A♣7♦4♣ flop hit the felt and action checked to middle position who continued for 2,200. Only Moores called.
The 8♥ landed on the turn and Moores checked again. The player in middle position put out another bet of 5,500. Moores went into the tank for a moment and then landed on a check-raise to the tune of 15,000. Her opponent thought it over for a while, and eventually landed on a fold.
Moores scooped a healthy pot to move above starting stack in these early levels of play.

Action was opened under the gun by local pro Jeff Stellwagon to 1,000. A player in middle position called, the cutoff called, and both of the blinds called.
The 4♥6♠2♦ flop hit the felt and action checked to the big blind who led out for 2,600. Stellwagon sat in the tank for a moment and stared down his opponent before putting in a raise to 7,000. The rest of the players got out of the way and action was back on the big blind.
They thought over their options for about a minute before eventually finding a fold.
Stellwagon took down the pot after some well-timed aggression paid off.
