Jamie Gold

Two extremely successful weekends of poker have already happened during the PokerStars Summer Series at Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia but Event #3: $2,200 No Limit Hold’Em has been the most anticipated of them all.

The guarantee was set at a massive $500,000 but as the final late registration ended on Saturday night, a total of 448 players had entered the event across three flights producing a total prize pool of $873,600. Whoever naviagates their way to the top spot will take home a huge first place prize of $172,390 and the coveted PokerStars trophy. Each of the 57 remaining players are in the money and have earned a minimum of $3,190, with progressive pay jumps happening fast.

Two WSOP Main event champions who have found a bag and will be in the mix on Day 2. Philadelphia native Joe McKeehen (2015) and Jamie Gold (2006) will both be returning to the feld. A deep run from just one of these champions would be interesting to see but the prospect of both making a run is quite exciting.

The winner of last week's Event #2 Soukha Kachittavong found a bag on Day 1b and has now secured a cash in all three of the events of this series. He has also made the final table of both of the first two events and will look to make it three.

PokerStars.com Online Qualifier Alexander Rolfe still holds the overall chip lead with a huge 1,033,000 stack. He is a relative unknown in this field but if his performance on Day 1a is any indication he will not be shy about putting his chips to use early and often.

Play resumes on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. with action picking up on Level 17 at 4000/8000/8000 blinds. The structure will move to 60-minute levels on Day 2 with a 15-minute break every two levels and a dinner break at the tournament director’s discretion.

The PokerNews reporting team will begin live coverage after the first four levels of play as we crown another champion in Phildelphia, so make sure to tune in!
