This Time? Some of the Top Talents Who Have (Inexplicably) Never Won During WCOOP

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 1,250 ante
WCOOP players due
WCOOP Players

Just before the 2018 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) got under way, we took a look at five players who were overdue a victory in poker’s premiere tournament series. There was simply no rational explanation for how come all of Niklas “Lena900” Astedt, Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson, Luke “lb6121” Schwartz, Talal “raidalot” Shakerchi and Tobias “kuhns89” Hausen had not, to that point, won a WCOOP tournament.

Two years on, only Astedt has put it right. He won the $530 PLO 6-Max in 2018 to get the monkey off his back.

Today we’re taking a look at another list of brilliant talents who have not yet won a title during WCOOP. But remember as you read the list of nearly men below that Mattsson, Schwartz, Shakerchi and Hausen are still looking for that WCOOP title too. Perhaps there’s no real shame in all of this.

Aerts Takes a Stack

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

Pieter "XMorphineX" Aerts raised the hijack to 30K, and "Reziee" called from the button. The flop was {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{a-Spades} and Aerts bet 60,000. "Reziee" called to {10-Diamonds} on the turn and called 63,000 to see {4-Clubs} on the river. Aerts shoved a covering stack, and "Reziee" called off with less.

Pieter "XMorphineX" Aerts: {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
"Reziee": {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

"Reziee" turned two pair as Aerts turned the flush.

Speranza Takes Another One

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

"MoshiMoshi84" raised to 25,320 from the hijack, and Gianluca "Tankanza" Speranza called the button, as did Chris "ImDaNuts" Oliver in the big blind. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and it checked to Speranza who bet 39,328. Only "MoshiMoshi84" called to the {10-Diamonds} flop, but they check-folded to the 56,760 bet from Speranza.

Aerts Chips Up

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

"alexfull11" called the hijack and Pieter "XMorphineX" Aerts checked his option in the big blind. The flop was {2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{a-Spades} and both players checked to the {9-Spades} turn. Aerts check-called a bet of 12,000 and they both checked the {6-Spades} river. The chip leader mucked when Aerts showed nine-five of diamonds for a turned pair.

Speranza Busts Bardon

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 1,250 ante
Speranza Busts Bardon
Speranza Busts Bardon

Gianluca "Tankanza" Speranza raised the middle, and Manuel "manuverd0n" Bardon called from the button, as did the big blind. The flop came {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{j-Spades} and it checked to Speranza who bet 23,600. The big blind mucked, but Bardon raised to 65,000 and Speranza called to the {6-Diamonds} turn. Bardon shoved for 125,865, and Speranza called.

Gianluca "Tankanza" Speranza: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Manuel "manuverd0n" Bardon: {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Board: {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{j-Spades}{6-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Bardon was drawing very thin and couldn't find help on the river.
