Day 1 of Event 8: $370 Large Stack BBA is in the books after over 17 hours of play total. The two flights of play drew 330 entries in total, 208 from Flight A and 122 from Flight B. At the end of the day just 25 players remained.

Leading both flights in chips at the day’s conclusion was Justin Arnwine who bagged a mountainous 1,728,000 stack, which is almost double any other players stack. Arnwine had a large stack for most of the later part of Flight A but his stack really sky-rocketed when he was the beneficiary of a dramatic hand in a three-way all in on the flop as he held pocket queens against pocket jacks and pocket kings and a queen hit the turn much to the delight of Arnwine to eliminate both of his opponents and give him an insurmountable chip lead.

Other big stacks to bag from Flight A were Tim Faro with 894,000, Ake Ngamsaard who finished with 735,000, Joseph Cutler (653,000) and Dennis Tsai (635,000).

Flight B was a smaller and more intimate affair as play slowed tremendously before the money bubble with two tables remaining. Phong Nguyen (934,000) and Dong Jun Ji (926,000) both collected eliminations just before the end of play to cut the flight to the ending amount of 9 and to increase their stacks to the biggest of Flight B.

The final 25 players will return in a few hours on August 1 at noon local time to play down to a winner. Play will start back up with 35 minutes remaining in level 20 with blinds at 10,000/20,000 and a 20,000 big blind ante.

PokerNews will provide all the coverage of tomorrow’s culmination of this event.
