Newland Leads as 68 Bag Up on Day 1b of the $600 Main Event at Run It Up Reno IX

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Vincent Newland
Vincent Newland

Day 1b of the $300,000 Guaranteed, $600 Main Event at Run It Up Reno IX saw a cool 420 entrants hit the felt, all in search of a Day 2 bag. Vincent Newland held over 700,000 in chips at one point before settling for a Day 1b chip leading bag of 582,000, well ahead of Day 1a chip leader Brett Gordon and his 455,000 chip stack.

Newland's day started off strong, as he picked off a bluff in Level 7 (400/800/800) to begin his reign near or on top of the chip counts, and Newland would stay there for most of the rest of the day. He was able to send Ricky "ratedGTO" Guan home just a few spots shy of a cash, but dropped down from his peak shortly after the knockout before bagging up for the evening.

Other stacks of significance to make it through to Day 2 from today's flight include Jeff Newman (547,000), Jesse Sylvia (475,000), Jamie Kerstetter (188,000), Garry Gates (181,000), and WSOP Bracelet winners Jeremy Pekarek (377,000), Alex Epstein (307,000) and Kevin Gerhart (185,000),

Defending Run It Up Reno Main Event champ Dan O'Brien was unable to advance, falling an hour short of the end of the day. Joining him on the rail were poker vloggers Jaman Burton and Johnnie Moreno, two-time Run It Up Reno IX Final Tablist Lucas Hill, Run It Up Reno IX Thursday Thrilla champ Ashley Sleeth, and Katie Lindsay.

The 760 total entrants mark the largest ever Main Event in Run It Up Reno history, besting the previous largest Main Event by 100 entrants. All 123 players are guaranteed a four-figure payday, as 123rd will pay $1,000. Players able to make it to Monday's final table of nine will be guaranteed $6,750, and the eventual champion will walk away with $66,000 and the beautiful Run It Up Reno trophy. You can find full payout information in the "Payouts" tab above.

Be sure to stay tuned right here to PokerNews tomorrow for live updates of all the action, and be sure to tune in to the Run It Up Twitch stream starting at 3 p.m. to watch all the action on a dynamic delay. Play will begin with 26:43 left in Level 15 (3,000/5,000/5,000) and play will continue until the final table of nine is reached.

Newland Busts "ratedGTO"

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Ricky Guan
Ricky Guan

Vincent Newland, who is currently lapping the field with a monster chip stack, had Ricky Guan at risk for his last 44,000 preflop.

Ricky Guan: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Vincent Newland: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The {10-Spades}{a-Spades}{8-Spades} flop had a little something for both players, as Guan had jacks and a flush draw, while Newland took the lead with aces-up. Guan picked up a gutshot on the {7-Hearts} turn, but the {2-Diamonds} river bricked off and left Guan a few spots shy of a Day 2 bag.

Garry Gates raised to 7,000 from the hijack, and was called by the button, as well as Dannah Kamp in the big blind.

Action checked to Gates on a {6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop, and he bet 11,000. Only Kamp called.

Kamp check-called a bet of 17,000 on the {a-Clubs} turn, and the {5-Clubs} fell on the river. Kamp jammed for 41,000 and Gates quickly called. Kamp tabled {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for a straight flush draw that rivered the nut straight, and she was all smiles after Gates mucked.

Filipovic Administers Doom to Shaban

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Arlie Shaban
Arlie Shaban

Steve Filipovic opened to 3,500 in early position, and got two callers, including Arlie Shaban on the button.

The flop came {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades}, and action checked to Shaban, who bet 3,500. Filipovic rerasied all in, the third player folded, and Shaban called.

Arlie Shaban: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Steve Filipovic: {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Shaban's lead with top pair quickly evaporated when the {8-Diamonds} hit on the turn, giving Filipovic the straight. The river fell {5-Diamonds}, and the aftermath of the hand left Shaban with just 7,000 chips.

Filipovic took those away from Shaban on the following hand, busting Shaban's {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} with {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds} on a {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Spades} runout.

Lindsay Coolered Out by Pekarek

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Katie Lindsay
Katie Lindsay

Jeremy Pekarek raised to 15,000 from under the gun, and Katie Lindsay three-bet shoved for 91,500 from the cutoff. Action folded back to Pekarek, who called, having Lindsay covered by just a few thousand in chips.

Katie Lindsay: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Jeremy Pekarek: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

"King!" Pekarek called out, anti-sweating himself. No king would come on a {3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} board, and Lindsay made her exit, while Pekarek told a tablemate, "It just all started to happen," while bringing in the near double.

John Caldwell: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Lexy Gavin

With the board showing {10-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades}{6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, and about 10,000 in the pot, Lexy Gavin put out a bet for 5,000 into Jeremy Pekarek on the cutoff.

Pekarek tanked for a bit before folding, getting a friendly needle from Gavin after the hand.

"How does it feel to get beat by a girl over and over again?" said Gavin.

The following hand saw Joe Ogden open raise to 2,000, Gavin three-bet to 8,000, and Ogden folded.

Meanwhile, Jamie Kerstetter has just been seated at the same table, and the group dynamic is certain to be entertaining as Day 1b rolls on.
