Big Call for Mariano

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

With {4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} on the board, "Boston" Rob Mariano bet 6,000 from middle position. Jed Hoffman, who initially checked, put in the all-in check-raise to 40,000.

Mariano went deep into the tank, asking for exact count while mulling over the decision. He eventually decided on a call.

Jed Hoffman: {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Rob Mariano: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

Mariano made the correct call, but Hoffman still had a chance at taking down the pot with a club or king hitting on the river. That fell {5-Spades}, however, and Mariano sent Hoffman to the rail.

Holloway KOs Caldwell

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Chad Holloway
Chad Holloway

An early position player opened to 4,000, John Caldwell three-bet all in to 35,000, and Chad Holloway shoved over the top for 50,000.

The original raiser folded, and Caldwell and Holloway went heads up to the showdown.

John Caldwell: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Chad Holloway: {9-}{9-}

Board: {10-}{9-}{q-}{x-}{x-}

Holloway found a set on the flop, and dodged all of Caldwell's outs on the runout.

Tardif Takes From Gorenc

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Marty Gorenc raised to 5,500 from the cutoff, and Patrick Tardif called in the big blind.

Both players checked the {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop, and Tardif checked again on the {2-Hearts} turn. Gorenc bet 5,000 and Tardif called.

The {8-Spades} fell on the river, and Tardif led out for 6,000. Gorenc called, and after Tardif tabled {a-Spades}{6-Clubs} for trip aces, Gorenc flung his {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts} face-up on the felt and paid off his debt.

Lindsay Coolered Out by Pekarek

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Katie Lindsay
Katie Lindsay

Jeremy Pekarek raised to 15,000 from under the gun, and Katie Lindsay three-bet shoved for 91,500 from the cutoff. Action folded back to Pekarek, who called, having Lindsay covered by just a few thousand in chips.

Katie Lindsay: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Jeremy Pekarek: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

"King!" Pekarek called out, anti-sweating himself. No king would come on a {3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} board, and Lindsay made her exit, while Pekarek told a tablemate, "It just all started to happen," while bringing in the near double.

Filipovic Administers Doom to Shaban

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Arlie Shaban
Arlie Shaban

Steve Filipovic opened to 3,500 in early position, and got two callers, including Arlie Shaban on the button.

The flop came {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades}, and action checked to Shaban, who bet 3,500. Filipovic rerasied all in, the third player folded, and Shaban called.

Arlie Shaban: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Steve Filipovic: {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Shaban's lead with top pair quickly evaporated when the {8-Diamonds} hit on the turn, giving Filipovic the straight. The river fell {5-Diamonds}, and the aftermath of the hand left Shaban with just 7,000 chips.

Filipovic took those away from Shaban on the following hand, busting Shaban's {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} with {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds} on a {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Spades} runout.

Defending Champ O'Brien Trending Up, Nastasis Out

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Run It Up Reno VIII's $600 Main Event champ Dan O'Brien raised to 5,000 on the button, and Jesse Capps called in the big blind.

Capps check-called a bet of 5,000 on the {k-Spades}{7-Hearts}{a-Hearts} flop, and both players checked the {4-Clubs} turn.

Capps checked the {7-Diamonds} river, and O'Brien bet 38,000, leaving himself just 14,000 behind. Capps tanked for three minutes before a clock was called, and with just two seconds left on the clock, Capps folded.

At the same time at another table, Michelle Nastasis lost a flip with her {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} to Garry Gates and his {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} to lose her last 10,000 chips and bust.
