Thompson Takes It On The Turn

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

A player limped in from the hijack, and James Thompson raised to 800 from the button. The small blind three-bet to 2,600, and after the hijack folded, Thompson tossed in a call.

On the {8-Clubs}{j-Spades}{q-Hearts} flop, the small blind led out for 3,000, and Thompson called.

The {8-Spades} fell on the turn, and the small blind checked. Thompson tossed in a bet of 3,500 and the small blind instantly folded.

Segura Binks The Turn To Double Through Duckworth

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
Arturo Segura
Arturo Segura

Arturo Segura had 2,000 out in front of him on a {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop from the big blind, and Alisha Duckworth had raised to 6,000 from the cutoff. Segura tossed in calling chips, and the {4-Hearts} peeled off on the turn.

Segura checked, and Duckworth quickly fired out 10,000. Segura sighed, then pushed his 17,200 stack in the pot. Duckworth didn't look thrilled, but eventually tossed in a call.

Segura: {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Duckworth: {k-Spades}{9-Spades}

Duckworth's top two pair had been two outed by the full house of Segura, and she couldn't find a two-outer of her own on the {6-Diamonds} river.

Jimmy Cappucci Captures His Record 6th RIU Reno Title

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

Jimmy Cappucci

Jimmy Cappucci is a Run It Up Reno beast! Last night he captured his record sixth RIU Reno title, twice as many as his closest competition (Andrew Cha and Jason Daniele both have three titles).

Cappucci's latest win came when he topped an 82-entry field to win the RIU Reno VIII $125 6-Max N.O.R.S.E. That tournament surpassed its $5,000 guarantee by creating a $7,954 prize pool paid out to the top 13 places.

Among those to get a piece of it were Mini Main Event champ John Boriolo (11th - $200), Eric "Goldy" Goldstein (8th - $320), and Joe Brandenburg (3rd - $945), just to name a few.

In the end, Cappucci defeated Paul Holden in heads-up play with the final hand being in a round of Stud Hi-Lo.

Ross Bets Big And Gets Paid

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante

A player checked a {j-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} board from the hijack, and Tom Ross fired a bet of 3,000 into a pot of 2,000 from the button. The hijack called, then said, "Check in the dark," before the {4-Hearts} could fall on the river.

Ross quickly bet another 3,000, and his opponent called, only to muck upon Ross showing his {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a flopped straight.

Earlier this week, the RIU Reno VIII Scavenger Hunt played out here at the Peppermill Casino.

In order to be entered into a drawing, players had to complete a set of tasks throughout the Peppermill Casino. They included play three hands of each of the blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold'em, and Fortune Pai Gow Poker; place a bet at craps and roulette; and finally play two orbits in the poker room, place a sportsbook bet, purchase a keno ticket, and spend $10 at the RIU merch booth.

Three winners were selected with two players receiving a Nike PokerStars duffle bag and a $125 seat. Those went to Michael Holmes and Ryan Schoonbaert.

Up top awaiting the winner was a $600 Main Event seat, dinner at the steakhouse with 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Chris Moneymaker, and a PokerStars chip set. The final name pulled and the winner of the RIU Reno VIII Scavenger Hunt was Corey Novak, who let loose a "Let's go, baby," after his name was drawn.

Novak will be looking to turn his free entry into a big payday here in the RIU Reno VIII Main Event!
