Simmons Finds the Double
Level 15
: Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
The player in the cutoff raised to 18,000 and Shaun Simmons three-bet jammed for 93,000 in the big blind to put himself at risk. The cutoff made the call.
Shaun Simmons: 9♣9♦
Cutoff: A♥9♥
Simmons was in the lead with his pair of nines until the dealer put out the A♦7♦8♦ flop, with the cutoff pairing his ace.
Simmons still had outs with a nine or a diamond, and he was pleased to see the 3♦ fall on the turn. The meaningless Q♠ landed on the river to complete the board.
