button in SafariCall Talks About Experience on "Million Dollar Secret" Netflix Show
Jamul Poker Live regular and participant in the Netflix show Million Dollar Secret Hunter Call has taken his shot at the San Diego Poker Classic $600 Main Event on Day 1c.
Call, who goes by @hppunts on Instagram, has been playing poker since 2020 and has become a regular in the San Diego Poker cash game scene, but his life has changed rapidly since his appearance on Season 2 of Netflix’s Million Dollar Secret that finished airing earlier this year in April.
“It was the most stressful thing I’ve done in my life,” said Call about his experience on the show. “I loved every minute of it and made really good friends. I’m extremely grateful. I ran pure to just get on the show in the first place. I just feel like a guy who got super lucky.”
Call shared that poker was the foundation for his outlook on how he played the game. He implemented a mindset and strategy that matched his poker background and applied it in a social game situation.
“Poker kind of prepped me for the show,” said Call. “I took notes on every other player’s strengths and weaknesses and where there were imbalances as well.”
Call, who was originally from Northridge, California, now resides in San Diego after moving here for university. Call is primarily a cash game player. He used it as a way to pay his tuition before it became a career after graduation, but has decided to take his shot at the SDPC Main Event despite his preference for cash games. When asked what motivated him to play this event, Call took the time to make a dig at a friend in jest.
“I was playing Jamul Live with a cash game player named Brett who sucks at poker,” said Call, joking about his friend. “So if he’s playing, then I’m playing.”
Call said he is still continuing to focus on poker, that it is still his number one priority when it comes to his career despite the newfound fame and exposure, but that he does hope to expand his Instagram channel to include more about his life.
“I want to be a great poker player. That’s always a priority. I started seeing results that I’m proud of, and it’s made me hungry for more,” said Call. “But I’ve been trying to figure out how to put my weird life on Instagram, not just poker.”
Call is one of the many hopefuls looking to earn the honor of the title of the 2026 SDPC Main Event champion and is currently sitting with 19,800 in the SDPC Main Event, continuing what has been an eventful, to say the least, 2026 for the poker professional.
