Martin and Griffin Eliminated

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Mark Martin was eliminated when he ran {3-}{3-} into {Q-}{Q-} and was unable to improve. The defending champion of this event had survived with a short stack for most of the day but his luck finally ran out.

John Griffin had a short stack but thought he hit the dream flop with his {5-}{5-} when the flop came {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{5-Clubs} giving him a set of fives. Unfortunately for him, his opponent had flopped a bigger set with {J-}{J-} and that would be the end of Griffin's tournament.

Both players received $1,417. There are 29 players remaining.

Randy Fikki Eliminated

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Randy Fikki
Randy Fikki

Randy Fikki and his short-stack got the last of his chips in from the small blind holding {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} after the player on the button had opened. Unfortunately for Fikki his opponent had a hand, the best hand possible actually as he had {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}.

The board would run out {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Fikki would be eliminated in 29th place for $1,417.

Flurry of Eliminations

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The chips are flying here and the eliminations are happening fast. We've had four players eliminated in the past ten minutes and we were able to witness one of them.

Suzanne Cooley opened for a raise pre-flop and Heather Alcorn put in a three-bet. Cooley moved all in and Alcorn made the call. Cooley held {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} against Alcorn's {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} but Alcorn would flop a set when it came {Q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs} and would send Cooley to the rail when the turn and river came {2-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

Alcorn would then lose the majority of her stack a few minutes later to Terry Presley when both players flopped a set but Presley's set of nines was better than Alcorn's set of sevens.

Chase Fitzgerald was eliminated in 28th place for $1,417. Ross Bybee was the 27th place finisher for $1,700. Cooley finished in 26th for $1,700 and Jerry Kahl was the 25th place finisher, also for $1,700.

Terry Presley opened for a raise pre-flop and was called by Jim Sybrant. Presley would lead out on the {8-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop and Sybrant would move all in. Presley snap-called with {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for two pair which was well ahead of Sybrant and his {A-}{Q-}. The turn and river came {2-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Sybrant was eliminated in 22nd place for $1,700.

Tesfalidet Doubles Through Reynolds

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Mesgana Tesfalidet limped in and John Reynolds made it 37,000 to go. It was folded back to Tesfalidet who made the call.

The flop came {6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Tesfalidet checked to Reynolds who made a continuation bet. Tesfalidet moved all in for 149,000 total and Reynolds quickly called. Tesfalidet sighed and said "gutshot" as she turned over {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} knowing she was likely behind. She was as Reynolds had {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}.

The dealer put out the turn — the {2-Diamonds} — and Tesfalidet let out a "yes" as she turned a set to move her into the lead.

The river was the {10-Diamonds} and a shocked Tesfalidet said "wow, guess you gotta be lucky sometimes." That double up moved her to 395,000 in chips while Reynolds dropped to 180,000.
