Chadd Johnson Bags Overall Chip Lead Heading Into Day 2

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Chadd Johnson - Day 1 chip leader
Chadd Johnson - Day 1 chip leader

It was a long day of poker at the Downstream Casino Resort as the RunGoodGear.com Poker Series Main Event saw a total of 233 entrants take to the tables and only 39 of them moving on to return for Day 2. The Day 1c numbers saw 122 entrants and 21 survivors bringing the total numbers for the three starting flights to 328 entrants with 55 of those moving on to Day 2. Only the top 36 will make the money, so there's still some work to be done before players can get some of their hard-earned money back.

Chadd Johnson bagged the chip lead for Day 1c with 281,000 in chips, joining Day 1b chip leader Lou Barlow (253,000) and Day 1a chip leader Darren Attebery (250,000) atop the chip counts. Rounding out the top three from Day 1c were Saied Moradi (272,500) and John Reynolds (246,000).

Also moving on from Day 1c were Patrick Dorothy (145,500), Matt Ellis (139,500), Suzanne Cooley (139,000), Randy Fikki (118,500), Jody Nittler (92,500), Mike Rieck (56,500), Jamie Kerstetter (53,500), Chris Conrad (45,500), Randy Murfin (12,000), and the defending champion of this event, Mark Martin (32,500).

That group joins the Day 1b survivors which include Ryan Tepen (12,000), Ross Bybee (159,500), Chance Fitzgerald (81,000), Heather Alcorn (159,000), Chris Drake (200,000), Troy Repp (175,500), and Terry Karn (91,000).

The team at RunGoodGear.com threw an impromptu pizza party for the players in the final flight and much fun was had as players stuffed their faces while tossing poker chips into the middle of the table. RunGoodGear Team Pro Benjamin Reason joked with RunGoodGear.com CEO Tana Karn, "Thanks for slowing down the number of hands we're dealt!" as players gulped down the grub.

Despite all the fun, there were people who left a little disappointed after coming up short in their attempts to move on to Day 2. That group included Reason, Isaac Tucker, Bernard Lee, Mike Tang, Dan Lowery, Huy Nguyen, Bryan Campanello, Casey Hindman, Amanda Baker, and Michael Sanders.

The players will return at noon local time on Sunday with dreams of taking home the $43,453 first-place prize and $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event seat. PokerNews will be there from start to finish until that winner is determined, so be sure to tune in to find out who the next RunGoodGear.com Poker Series champion is!

"We want to put the fun back in poker."

Those were the words of RunGoodGear.com CEO Tana Karn shortly before the Main Event of the 2015 RunGood Poker Series Downstream Casino Main Event was set to begin.

"There is a lot of personality in poker. A lot of up and coming players that have a lot to offer and we feel that we can help promote poker in a positive light. Poker is fun and we know that people can have a good time playing poker while trying to make some money."

RunGoodGear is determined to have a prominent place in the poker market in numerous ways. They have an unmatched stable of Team Pros with veteran players like Jordan Morgan, Bernard Lee, and Jamie Kerstetter joining forces with top young guns like Bryan Campanello and Joe Serock. Add in a fledgling and growing poker tour and a poker apparel company and it's easy to see why people are talking up RunGoodGear and what they are doing for poker.

"We want to be able to provide poker players with stylish and comfortable clothes for on and off the felt," said Karn. "Surfing has Quiksilver. Poker has RunGood."

Karn is more than just talk. He's a man of action. During play tonight he made a call to a local pizza delivery place and had 15 pizzas delivered for the players to eat while playing. Players thanked him endless times to which Karn would just say "no thank you, we wouldn't have a company without you."

It's statements like that which will keep RunGoodGear.com around for many years to come.

Last Flight of 2015 RunGood Poker Series Downstream Casino Main Event to Start Soon

It's the last chance for poker players to get into the RunGoodGear.com Main Event here at the Downstream Casino Resort and they will have until the end of Level 8 to get into the action. Through the first two flights, 203 entrants have participated with 16 advancing from the first flight. The second flight is still going on and we'll be focusing our coverage there until they bag and tag for the day.

We're expecting all the big names that didn't make it through the first two flights to be firing another bullet or two so stay tuned for the late night poker coverage here from the outskirts of Joplin, Missouri.

Cards will be in the air soon!
