Day 1b Started

Welcome to Day 1b/c of RunGood Poker Series Hard Rock Tulsa

Olivier Busquet
Olivier Busquet

Day 1a is in the books at RunGood Hard Rock Tulsa, but last night's 12 levels of play were a mere appetizer compared to the feast of RunGood action that awaits today.

Today will see the second and third flights hit the felt, with two sets of players getting through to Day 2 to join the 17 that advanced from yesterday's 88-player heat. Just like Day 1a, there will be 12 30-minute levels played over the course of each flight, with the first one kicking off at noon local time and the second one beginning at 7 p.m. Both flights will feature unlimited reentries and 20,000 in starting chips.

The man to catch on Day 1a is Randy Clements, who bagged 191,500. A number of other notables made it through, including RunGood Team Pros Justin Gardenhire and Ray Henson.

By the same token, players like Olivier Busquet, Ross Bybee, Sam Abernathy, Mina Greco, Jonathan Gaviao and Will Berry were unable to punch tickets to Day 2 and we will likely see them back in action today.

Gaviao All In Early

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

Jonathan Gaviao just sat in and he wasted no time getting his stack in the middle, three-betting to 1,200 in the small blind and then reshoving over a player who jammed about 14,000 on the button. Gaviao had {a-Spades}{k-Spades} and his opponent {a-}{k-} and they chopped the pot with the nut straight.

Also present: Ron Covert, who got second in last week's RunGood Harrah's Kansas City after falling to Ryan Tepen heads up.

Haq Looking to Stay Hot

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

RunGood Team Pros Duma Lowery and Bryan Campanello have joined the tournament, as has Hasan Haq.

Haq is on quite a fiery run in this area. A native of Tulsa, he took second to Will Berry in the RunGood event at Downstream last year for his first live cash of $16,013. He followed that up with another second-place finish, this one at a tournament quite a bit larger and more lucrative: Poker Night in America Choctaw. He fell heads up to Kim Dao there, banking $177,074.

We'll see if he can keep the hot run going today.

Martin Wastes No Time

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

RunGood Team Pro Dan "Wretchy" Martin just sat in and immediately found himself mixing it up, betting 1,300 on a {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} flop. He got a call from his left and a check-raise to 3,000 from Julie Walker in the small blind. Martin called, as did the third player. Everyone checked the {a-Spades} and Walker checked the {q-Diamonds} river as well. Martin fired 10,000 and got two quick folds.

"That's how you do it," his neighbor said. "Just sit down and win a hand."
