Welcome to RunGood Poker Series Harrah's North Kansas City

RunGood Traveling Champion's Cup
RunGood Traveling Champion's Cup

The RunGood Poker Series is back with its spring "Ignite the Night" series, and the first of three tournaments in the series kicks off today.

Harrah's North Kansas City will play host to the first event, and it's going to be a unique one as far as the RunGood series goes: it's the first ever one-day Main Event. The tournament has a $340 entry fee and $25,000 guaranteed. Blinds begin at 25/50 and progress through 30-minute levels until Level 12, at which point things move to 40-minute levels. Players begin with 15,000 in their stacks and they may reenter as many times as they wish through the start of Level 9 (800/1,600/300).

Last night's $230 Deepstack event drew 143 runners, so expect a prize pool well in excess of the guarantee. Things get started at 1 p.m. local time here in Kansas City, so stay tuned for the live updates here on PokerNews.

Hamilton Holds the Cooler

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

A player bet on a board of {8-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts} from early position, and Jason Hamilton popped it to 1,600 on his left. The small blind called, and the original bettor pushed all in for about 7,000. Hamilton called, as did the small blind.

The river brought a {10-Diamonds}, and the small blind checked. Hamilton pushed all in and his opponent quickly folded. Hamilton turned over {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} for kings full, and his disgusted opponent showed he'd been coolered with {8-}{8-}.

Patti Jams River

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Frank Patti bet 1,000 in the cutoff on a {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop, and a player who checked in early position made it 2,400 to go. Patti called, and the turn was a {6-Spades}. Now, the early player checked and called 3,000 from Patti. On the {a-Clubs} river, the first player again checked and Patti announced he was all in. The early player folded relatively quickly to preserve his last 11,500 or so.

Patti is a native of nearby Gladstone who has more than $300,000 in tournament cashes, including a win for $103K on the Heartland Poker Tour.

Bartlett Doubles in Odd Hand; Woodson Enters

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

A strange hand just went down that saw Cody Bartlett check a board of {5-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts}, and his opponent simply turn over her {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}. The floor ruled that action was checked, and the {j-Hearts} river meant Bartlett had his turn to act knowing his opponent's holding. Bartlett shoved for 5,800, and his opponent thought about 30 seconds and called.

Bartlett showed {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for fives full and doubled through.

Elsewhere, Tim Woodson entered the tournament. He finished runner-up to Ryan Tepen at the RunGood Cup Championship in New Orleans last year.
