Albarran Finds a Non-Believer

Leo Albarran
Leo Albarran

The action folded to Leo Albarran in the lojack position and he raised to 2,000. Nick Burris called in the small blind and the player in the big blind came along to see the flop, which fell {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

The blinds checked and Albarran continued for 3,000. Burris folded and the big blind called. The dealer added the {6-Spades} to the board and the big blind moved all in for his last 8,000. Albarran announced a call and turned over {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for trips. The big blind turned over {j-Spades}{3-Spades} for two pair and needed help to stay alive.

The river brought the {k-Hearts} to improve Albarran to a full house and his opponent hit the rail.

Second Break

The players are taking their second and last 15-minute break of the Day 1B flight. When they return, registration and re-entry will be closed and the blinds will increase to 600/1200 with a 1200 big blind ante.

Relentless Ramirez

Vincent Ramirez
Vincent Ramirez

Vincent Ramirez just chipped up in back-to-back hands to join the chip leaders.

In the first hand, Ramirez has the button and called a 2,500-chip open from Leo Albarran to see a flop of {k-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs}. Both players checked to the {k-Spades} turn. Albarran leed for 2,500 and Ramirez called.

The river brought a third spade, the {4-Spades}. Albarran checked and Ramirez bet 4,500. Albarran quickly folded.

In the next hand, Ramirez got involved in a pot with Joel Farris. We missed the early action, but on the river, with the board reading {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}, Ramirez led for 13,000 into a 20,000-chip pot. Farris thought it over for a bit but then put in the chips to call. Ramirez tabled {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Farris mucked.

Walters Eliminates Hibler

Clyde Walters
Clyde Walters

We missed the preflop action and arrive at the table with a flop of {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{3-Clubs} already spread. Mike Hibler led at the pot for 7,200 and Clyde Walters raised to 20,000 straight. Hibler had around 25,000 left behind and Walters had around 30,000 left after the raise.

Hibler wasted no time announcing he was all in and Walker called just as quickly.

Walters: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Hibler: {a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}

Hibler was ahead but had to fade Walters's club and queen outs to stay alive. The dealer turned the {8-Clubs}, bringing in Walters's flush. Hibler needed the case ace or a three to come from behind and remain in the tournament.

However, the river brought the {7-Diamonds} and Hibler headed toward the exit.

Albarran Takes Kinder Down a Notch

Leo Albarran
Leo Albarran

Leo Albarran just doubled up through chip leader Kyle Kinder in a 100K+ pot. The action folded to Kinder on the button and he raised to 4,500. The small blind folded and Leo Albarran called in the big blind.

Albarran checked the {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop and Kinder continued for 9,000. Albarran called and the dealer added the {8-Hearts} to the board. Albarran then moved all in and Kinder immediately asked for a count. The answer came back as 36,000 and Kinder went into the tank. After a full minute, Kinder tossed in a 5k chips to indicate a call and the hands were turned up.

Albarran - {5-Spades}{4-Spades}
Kinder - {k-Spades}{7-Spades}

Albarran's bottom two pair were in good shape against Kinder's middle pair, but any seven, eight, or king would give the pot to Kinder, while any six would result in a chop.

The dealer completed the board with the {10-Clubs} and Albarran secured the double-up.

Farris Eliminates Albarran

Joel Farris
Joel Farris

Leo Albarran opened to 5,500 and Joel Farris moved all in for a little over 60,000. The action folded back to Albarran, who decided to call all-in for less.

Farris: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Albarran: {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Farris was a huge favorite until the flop came {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Even with middle set, Farris had to dodge Albarran's straight and flush outs to avoid being crippled.

Farris held through the {5-Diamonds} turn, and again on the {3-Diamonds} river, sending Albarran to the exit.
