Glasscock Eliminates One Early

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

Rodney Spriggs made it 500 from late position to see both the small blind and Steven Glasscock in the big blind defend.

The three players saw a flop of {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}

The player in the small blind checked and Glasscock bet 300.

Spriggs folded and the small blind called.

The turn brought the {a-Clubs} and the player in the small blind announced that he was all-in for his remaining 3,400 chips.

Glasscock took no time in making the call and showed {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a turned two pair.

The player in the small blind tabled his {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and needed to see a four or a five to stay alive.

The {10-Spades} river was no help and Glasscock collected the pot.

Papa Karn Wins RGPS CardPlayer Cruise Event #2: $180 DeepStack for $7,190

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Last weekend, the RunGood Poker Series was on the high seas! They partnered with CardPlayer Cruises to host a series of events on a seven-day cruise in the Caribbean. There was a ton of poker action, and we thought it’d be fun to highlight some of the events right here in the blog.

In Event #2: $180 DeepStack, 206 entries competed in two separate starting flights. That created a $29,973 prize pool that was paid out to the top 27 players.

Among those to cash but fall short of making the final table were Chad Holloway (11th - $614), Paul Strohm (13th - $480), Julie Cornelius (20th - $330), and Ann Spinetti (23rd - $330).

At one point, Papa Karn, the father of RGPS founder Tana Karn, was down to just two big blinds. He was able to spin it up and the tides slowly turned to give Papa some footing and eventually the chip lead. Papa pushed the tempo knocking out the remaining opponents which included a short heads-up match against Joel Rettew after finding pocket kings to send him into the winner's circle.

It marked the first tour victory for Papa Karn, a favorite among the RGPS crowd.

Bryce Nguyen Doesn't Need To See the River

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Chris Conrad opened from under the gun and found three callers from Bryce Nguyen in middle position, the player on the button, and the player in the small blind, before AJ Surritte three-bet from the big blind to 1,400.

Conrad, along with Nguyen, the button, and small blind called.

The five players saw a flop of {j-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}

The player in the small blind checked and Surritte bet 2,000.

Conrad folded, and Nguyen put in a raise to 5,000.

The button and the small blind got out of the way, leaving Nguyen and Surritte heads up to the turn after Surritte put in the 3,000 chip difference.

{5-Spades} on the turn and Surritte checked.

Nguyen bet 8,000 and after a pause, got a fold and a sigh from Surritte.

Coffman Looking for a RGPS Ring to Compliment Latest WSOPC Victory

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante
Cody Coffman

The World Series of Poker Circuit Choctaw Durant recently wrapped up its stop elsewhere in Oklahoma, and it's no surprise to see many of those players make the trip to the Hard Rock Tulsa for the RGPS. One such player is Cody Coffman, who actually had some big success at the WSOPC stop.

In Event #1: $400 Monster Stack, 765 entrants competed over two starting flights, which resulted in a $252,450 prize pool. In the end, 24-year-old Coffman of Tulsa bested Robert Miller in heads-up play to win the title for $47,458 and his first gold ring. He did so by coming into Day 2 as the overall chip leader.

“Yeah, I mean, I didn’t like being top just because it puts pressure on you… but obviously I prefer it. Because of my cash game background, I like playing deeper. It’s better for me anyway,” said Coffman, a full-time student at Northeastern State studying Cyber Security.

He added: “It feels great. I mean, I usually play cash. Cash games are more steady. You don’t come in and buy in for four hundred and win 47k, so it’s just insane. It’s a great feeling … I mean, I’ve played instead of having a job through college and I love it, it’s fun, but it’s just not something I’d want to do as a job. It’s just a hobby… I just want to work full time and play. I’ll still play a ton.”

Coffman is in action today looking to add a Signature Championship Ring to one of his fingers.
