Smith Takes It on the Turn

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Tommy Smith raised to 2,200 from middle position and Aaron Mitchell called from the small blind. The player in the big folded and it was heads-up action to the {q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop.

Mitchell check-called a bet of 2,000 and then checked for the second time on the {5-Spades} turn.

Smith bet again, this time 3,000, and that did the trick as Mitchell released his hand.

Bennett on the Rise

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Jon Bennett
Jon Bennett

Mashir Khan limped from middle position and Jon Bennett did the same from the small blind. The player in the big checked his option and the trio saw a flop of {8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

Two checks saw Khan bet 2,200, Bennett called, and the player in the big blind folded headed to the {4-Spades} turn.

Both active players checked and the {6-Diamonds} completed the board on the river. Bennett led out for 4,000 and that did the trick as Khan folded his hand.

Brent Harrington Wins Second Championship Ring

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Brent Harrington

Leading into the RGPS Hard Rock Tulsa stop was the inaugural Poker Industry Championship. On Monday, RunGood Events held an open-to-all preliminary event in the $135 buy-in 8-Game Mixer. Specifically, the games included: No-Limit Hold'em; Seven Card Stud; Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Razz; Pot-Limit Omaha; Limit Hold'em; Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better; and 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw.

A total of 52 entries were recorded, with six players taking home a portion of the prize pool. With four players left, an unusual chop was negotiated. RG Ambassador Justin Gardenhire took home $1,300 and his stack was then removed from play while the remaining three players competed for the title of champion and the custom Signature Ring.

Play continued to well past 4 a.m. Tuesday, at the end of which RGPS and PokerNews live reporter Brent Harrington emerged as the event winner. It was Harrington's second championship ring this year, after taking down the RGPS Tunica PLO Event for $6,838.

Harrington bagged in Flight B of the Main Event and will return to action on Sunday.

Kim Trips Up His Opponent

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Chul Kim
Chul Kim

Chul Kim opened for 2,500 from the cutoff and the player on the button called. The big blind came along and it was three-way action to the {j-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop. The big blind checked, Kim continued for 3,000, and the player in the cutoff called.

The big blind got out of the way and the {7-Spades} appeared on the turn. Kim checked and just called when his opponent bet 8,000.

When the {8-Spades} completed the board on the river, Kim shifted gears and led out for 6,000. His opponent paid it off only to muck when Kim rolled over the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for trip jacks.

Pocket Rockets Propel Ross to a Double

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Thomas Ross
Thomas Ross

Thomas Ross opened with a raise from middle position only to have Tiffany Keathley three-bet to 6,000 from the hijack. Action folded back to Ross and he four-bet jammed for 20,600 total, which Keathley called.

Tiffany Keathley: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Thomas Ross: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Ross had the goods and Keathley was left asking the dealer for spades. The {2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop contained just one, and Keathley was left drawing dead after the {7-Hearts} paired the board on the turn.

The meaningless {6-Hearts} was run out on the river and Ross was pushed the double.

Hitt & Run on Papa Karn

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Papa Karn
Papa Karn

Papa Karn got his last 15,000 all in preflop and was racing for his tournament life against Don Hitt.

Don Hitt: {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Papa Karn: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Papa Karn was just looking to hold to double, but that proved easier to said than done as the board ran out {3-Spades}{j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} to give Hitt a winning two pair.
