Day 1b of The Run Good Poker Series Coconut Creek $1,100 Main Event Starts At 11 AM!

Action will continue today in Day 1b of Event #6: $1,100 No-Limit Hold’em at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. After a whopping 171 entrants on Day 1a, the $200,000 guarantee on the prize pool only requires less than a fifth of the entrants from yesterday’s flight to reach, ensuring that it will be passed.

Yesterday saw Matt Lambrecht take home a monster chip lead at 362,000 with other players Ray Henson(266,500) and Shalom Elharar(238,500) joining him up on the podium. Others that saw their fortunes favored included Jerry Wong(167,000), Scott Baumstein(101,000), and bracelet winners Yuval Bronshtein(118,500) and Loni Harwood(66,500). Any players who bagged on Day 1a but wish to play another flight can do so as the tournament is structured in best bag format, meaning that the player will only be able to play their best bag between however many flights they play.

Players who were not as fortunate include Jeff Platt, Athanasios Polychronopoulos, Nick Yunis, and Jake Schwartz. All of them will have their second opportunity to bag a flight. Timothy “T.K.” Miles will also have to fire today to have a second deep run in the tourney. Defending champion Raminder Singh did not play Day 1a, but will have an opportunity to play on this second starting flight.

Players will start out with 30,000 in chips with blinds starting at 100-100. The first 8 levels of the day will be 30 minutes long with the remaining levels of the tournament switching to 40 minutes. There is a 15-minute break after levels 4 and 8 and after that there is a break every three levels. Players who survive through the day will reconvene on Sunday at 12 pm where they will play until a winner. The players who do not make it through today will have an opportunity to try once more in Day 1c on Saturday.

PokerNews will be on the ground and giving updates of this tournament from the first card hitting the felt, to the last player being eliminated.

Platt Goes For Value

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Jeff Platt
Jeff Platt

Jeff Platt raised to 300 in the cutoff preflop and was called by one player in the small blind.

On a flop reading {3-Spades}{q-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, the small blind checked to Platt who bet 300 once more and the small blind called.

The turn {4-Spades} saw Platt size up his bet to 800 which was called once more by the small blind.

The river {j-Hearts} had the action checking to Platt once more who bet one more time to the tune of 1,700. The small blind frustratingly tossed in the chips to call and Platt turned over {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for a pair of kings which was good against his opponents {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.
