For the second time this year, RunGood Poker Series has found its way to The Horseshoe Casino and Hotel in Council Bluffs, Iowa. After a successful week of preliminary events, that saw six rings given and one PokerGo pro-am seat, the culminating event kicks off its second day at 12 p.m.

Players will begin the tournament with 30,000 chips with levels beginning at 100/200 and a 200 big blind ante. Levels will escalate once every 30 minutes, with a 10-minute break occurring every four levels. Players will have the option to enter in as many times as they wish in the first eight levels of the tournament.

Play will continue until the field plays down 12.5%, then the remaining players will bag up for Sunday October 23rd where they will all be in the money. Players who do not bag on this flight, will be able to play the second flight today that begins at 6 p.m. and the following two flights on Saturday, October 22nd.

This February’s RGPS in Council Bluffs saw the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool quadruple to $413,840 as 813 entrants made their way out to play the main event. After an even chop four-ways, Dakotah O’Dell took home the trophy and $48,771 for his victory. This time around, the buy-in of $600 boasts a guarantee of $200,000, which it is expected to surpass.

Jeff Tebben

A player in first position raised to 400 and was called by three players, including Jeff Tebben from the cutoff.

Action was picked up on the river between Taylor Howard in the cutoff and an opponent in the small blind with 38,500 in the center.

On a board reading {6-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, the small blind bet 12,000 which sent Howard into the tank. He contemplated his decision for a bit and then put in the chips for the call.

"Good call," his opponent said shaking his head "I missed." The small blind turned over {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for a missed straight draw and king-high, while Howard turned over {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a missed flush and straight draw with ace-high. The ace-high was good and Howard scooped a pot that was worth over 50,000.
