Balanza Wins Huge Pot to Take Chip Lead

Level 16 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Ivan Balanza
Ivan Balanza

Armando Mesina opened in early position to 21,000 and Ivan Balanza called behind. Taylor Howard then three-bet to 85,000 and action folded back to Mesina who then ripped it all in for around 350,000. Balanza paused for a few seconds before also moving all in, putting himself at risk while Howard quickly got out of the way.

Ivan Balanza: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Armando Mesina: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Balanza was a big favorite in this matchup, and the flop of {k-Clubs}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs} put him lightyears ahead with his top set of kings. The runout of {3-Spades}{4-Hearts} improved him to a full house and he was shipped the massive pot to put him into the chip lead with almost 700,000.

Evans Scoops Three-Way All In

Level 16 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Lena Evans
Lena Evans

After being left with only 80,000 from the previous hand, Armando Mesina moved all in from under-the-gun and Lena Evans re-shoved for more. Action folded around to Tavish Margers in the small blind who then also moved all in to cover both players and now the action was on Genna Slavin in the big blind.

"Wow, I could win the tournament with this hand, this is crazy," Slavin said as he was contemplating his decision.

He then painfully folded his hand face-up to show {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and the other players tabled their cards.

Armando Mesina: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Lena Evans: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Tavish Margers: {k-Spades}{k-Spades}

Evans was a huge favorite going into the hand, but she still had to fade kings and jacks to win. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} which gave her even more equity as she had the nut flush draw as well. The board completed with the {6-Clubs}{8-Spades} to secure her victory while Mesina was eliminated. Slavin patted himself on the back for making the fold as Evans was shipped the pot for a triple-up.

Sahar Bakshi

Adrian Cruz opened to 60,000 from middle position but then Sahar Bakshi moved all in for 420,000. Action folded back around to Cruz, who went into the tank.

After a minute or so, he set his chips across the line and the race was on, with Cruz at risk.

Adrian Cruz: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Sahar Bakshi: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The board ran out {4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for Bakshi's queens to hold for her to win the pot, eliminating Cruz.

Bakshi is now one of the top stacks in the room with close to 900,000.

Pilotin Fades River to Knock out Margers

Level 20 : Blinds 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Ediberto Pilotin
Ediberto Pilotin

After a series of raises, Tavish Margers and Ediberto Pilotin got it all in preflop, with Margers at risk.

Tavish Margers: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Ediberto Pilotin: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}

The board on the turn was {5-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{10-Spades}, so Pilotin was in the lead but any face card besides a jack would give Margers the win. But the river {8-Diamonds} was a brick and Pilotin emerged victorious to win the pot.

Pilotin was pushed the large pot to swell his chip stack to 1,300,000 while Margers was eliminated.

Luis Adame
Luis Adame

Sahar Bakshi opened to 80,000 from the button but then Luis Adame moved all in for 645,000 and action folded back to Bakshi.

"Give me one second, guys, not sure what to do here," Bakshi admitted.

After exactly one minute of thought, she set out her calling chips to put Adame at risk.

Luis Adame: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Sahar Bakshi: {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

The board runout of {4-Hearts}{k-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} was clean for Bakshi and she was pushed the large pot to boost her stack to 2,800,000 to take the chip lead.

Eduardo Parra: {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}
David Becker: {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

It was a pretty matchup going in, but the flop of {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts} put Becker in the lead with his pair of queens. The board completed with the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} to improve Becker to a straight to win the pot and the Day 1a chip leader was eliminated in 13th place.

Elizabeth Martin

After losing most of her stack in the previous hand with pocket sevens against Sandor Molnar's pocket kings, Elizabeth Martin moved all in for her remaining 115,000 after David Becker opened under-the-gun to 150,000.

Grant Foster called behind, and the three of them went to a flop of {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts}, which saw Becker check and Foster bet 200,00.

Becker quickly folded and the cards were tabled, with MArtin at risk.

Elizabeth Martin: {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Grant Foster: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Foster was pretty far ahead with his pair of aces, and the runout of {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} improvedhim to two pair to win the pot.

Terry Davis moved all in for his last 120,000 and Rich Alsup was the only one to make the call, putting Davis at risk.

Terry Davis: {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Rich Alsup: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

"I need a deuce," Davis said as he realized he was heavily dominated.

The board runout of {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} actually gave him two deuces, but unfortunately for him, Alsup made a flush on the turn to win the hand and Davis was eliminated in 11th place.

David Becker: {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Chris Smith: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}

Becker needed a lot of help to win the hand, but the board of {7-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} did not do it for him and he was eliminated in 10th place on the final table bubble for a payout of $4,755.
