The next RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) champion will be crowned this weekend as the RGPS Jamul Casino Main Event in San Diego is about to get underway. The $600 buy-in tournament kicks off today at 6 p.m. Pacific Time with Day 1a.

The RGPS Jamul Casino Main Event has a guaranteed prize pool of $150,000 and is expected to surpass that as players have four starting flights to choose from. Day 1b will commence on Friday, November 18 at 6:00 p.m., Day 1c will start Saturday at 11:00 a.m., and Day 1d will be underway later that evening at 6 p.m.

Players will begin with a stack of 30,000 chips and blind levels of 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. Blind levels will last for 30 minutes, and the tournament allows for unlimited re-entry up until the start of Level 9.

Day 1 will break after the top 12.5 % of the field has been reached and the surviving players will be in the money. At the end of each starting flight, the remaining players will return for Day 2 on Sunday, November 20 at 11:00 a.m. and play down to a winner.

The eventual winner of the RGPS Jamul Casino Main Event will be awarded the ever-sytlish RGPS championship ring and earn the lion’s share of the prize pool, as well as an exclusive invitation and $800 seat and stipend package to the RGPS: All-Stars Pro-am Event at PokerGo Studios in December 2022.

A handful of RunGood ambassadors will take their shot in the Jamul Casino Main Event, including Joe Stapleton, Preston McEwen, Cody Stanford, and Taylor Howard.

Last month, Nebraska’s Derrick Plumage achieved back-to-back Main Event Titles as he won the RGPS Council Bluffs Main Event and earned a payday of $56,931. That event drew 576 entrants and generated a total prize pool of $299,520.

Fitzer Scores Early Knockout

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

On a completed board of {5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, Rip Fitzer was faced with an all-in bet of 8,800 from his heads-up opponent.

After a few seconds of contemplation, Fitzer threw in the chips and made the call.

"Two-pair," Fitzer announced as he tabled {9-Spades}{10-Spades}. His opponent then shook his head and flipped over {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a pair of fives. The chips were pushed Fitzer's way and the busted player exited the tournament area.

Queens Take the Pot for O'Dwyer

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

On a heads-up flop of {5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Steven O'Dwyer bet 1,300 and was check-called by Ivan Balanza.

The turn came the {5-Spades} and both players decided to check to the {3-Clubs} river.

Balanza then led out for 5,000 and was quickly called by O'Dwyer. Balanza tabled {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a pair of eights but O'Dwyer rolled over {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for a pair of queens to win the pot.

Eicher Doubles with Tens

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

After there was a raise to 1,000 and several callers, Noel Eicher moved all in from the small blind for his last 6,900.

The player in the hijack was the only one to make the call, putting Eicher at risk as the cards were tabled.

Noel Eicher: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Hijack Player: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Eicher started out ahead in this classic flip, and the board runout of {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} kept it that way and he scored a nice double-up.

Seem Hits Her Queen

PokerNews missed the hand, but was informed by the table of what happened.

Before the flop, the player in late position opened to 1,200 and was called by Vidhi Seem in on the button. But then David Stoneburner three-bet to 6,400 from the small blind, which was called by both players.

The flop came {q-}{10-}{j-} ad Stoneburner checked to the late position, who then moved all in for 6,400. Seem then reshoved over the top for 15,400 and Stoneburner quickly called, covering both players.

Late Position: {a-}{a-}
Vidhi Seem: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
David Stoneburner: {k-}{k-}

Seem was way out in front with her top set of queens, but she wasn't out of the woods yet as her opponents could still hit a king or an ace for a straight.

Luckily for her, the board ran out clean with {6-}{2-} and Seem scooped the massive pot to triple up her stack to 60,000.
