Frank Covich

Play went into the early hours of the morning, but around 4:20 a.m. on Sunday October 9th, the final 26 players bagged up to return for Day 2 of the RunGood Poker Series Tunica $600 Main Event at Horseshoe Tunica and Casino. 211 entrants bought into this final flight, making this the biggest flight of the weekend, and creating a prize pool worth $310,440.

The final flight saw Chris Hight bag the chip lead with 800,000, good for third overall in the tournament. Hight maintained a relatively good sized stack throughout the day but around level 15, he made a call for his entire stack with second pair correctly in a pot worth 653,000 and from then on he amassed more and more chips. He is one of only three players coming back tomorrow with 800,000 or more, and will be keen to put himself in prime position for a main event title.

Richard “R.C” Hughes had an eventful last level of the night. At the beginning of hand for hand play, he found himself on the right side of an aces versus queens cooler. Adam Cotant was on the other end of the hand, and it vaulted Hughes into second place on the leaderboard with 518,000.

Another bigger stack towards the end of the night was Frank Covich. Covich has a long list of results dating back to 2013. His biggest career cash came from his win at the Mid-States Poker Tour Evansville for $62,847, and he is now in the hunt for another mid-major title to add to his resume. His chip stack of 349,000 has put him in a good position to do so.

Matt Doyle
Matt Doyle grinded most of the day on the short stack, but survived into the money

Other players that made it on to Day 2 included Preston McEwen (257,000), Matt Doyle (115,000), and Alec Wilson (99,000) all looking for their own piece of RGPS jewelry. They fared better than others like Daniel Lowery, Christopher Conrad, Michael Sanders, and Walker Miskelly. They will have to go to another stop to take down a RGPS main event.

Players will return at 12 p.m. with 20:00 remaining on level 15 where the blinds were at 4,000/8,000. Levels will last 30 minutes, with a 10-minute break occurring after every three levels. Play will continue until there is a new RGPS main event champion. Stay tuned to PokerNews for all updates from the RunGood Poker Series.
