Who Will Win The RunGood Poker Series Council Bluffs Main Event?
The RunGood Poker Series Checkpoint $700 Main Event at The Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa, sees the final day of play begin today at noon. The initial field of 605 has been reduced to just 74 players, each of whom is guaranteed $917, and all have eyes on a top prize of $68,799.
Leading the way with 1,083,000 is Matt Morfitt, whose monster chip lead puts him a good deal ahead of the rest of the field. Morfitt’s $203,228 lifetime The Hendon Mob earnings have multiple deep runs from RGPS, including two Main Event final tables from years prior. Given the large sum up top, his fourth cash of this week’s series looks to be a large one, and he will be a dangerous force in today’s field.

Dakotah O’Dell also bagged a large stack with 469,000. Just after his second RGPS title that came in last week, O’Dell is looking to be the first player to win three main event titles. Others who bagged significant stacks included last year’s runner up Mark Homan (434,000), Angela Jordison (331,000), Donnie Phan (264,000), Alex Wheeler (226,000), Kevin Berthelsen (176,000), Caitlin Comeskey (149,000), and WSOP 2001 third place finisher Stan Schrier (134,000).
Players are returning to 22 seconds left in Level 14 with blinds at 3,000/6,000 and a 6,000 ante. After this level, the blinds will last 40 minutes, with players taking a 15-minute break between every three levels. Play will continue until a new champion is crowned. The flop of 8♠6♦4♠ saw action check to O'Dell who bet 65,000 which Giap responded too by raising to 200,000. Jordison folded and O'Dell moved all in for 390,000 total. Giap asked for a count and then called to put O'Dell at risk.
