“Tilt til I bag!” was the quote of the night from Nathan Steuer who actually did find a bag with 134,000.

There are still two more starting flights to be held tomorrow in the RGPS Kansas City Main Event; Day 1b at 11:00 a.m. and Day 1c at 5 p.m. The final day will be Sunday at noon when all players combine for a chance to be the next RGPS Main Event Champion where they will be presented with a ring and a big payday.

O'Dell KOs McDowell

Level 13 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Dakotah O'Dell
Dakotah O'Dell

Rodney Spriggs opened to 10,500 from early position but was then immediately three-bet to 28,000 by Dakotah O'Dell to his left. Then Sam McDowell four-bet jammed for 190,000 and action folded back around to Spriggs who reluctantly folded while O'Dell snap-called to put him at risk.

Sam McDowell: KK
Dakotah O'Dell: AA

Things were not looking good for McDowell and his kings against O'Dell's rockets, and the runout of 44299 changed nothing and O'Dell was awarded the massive pot while McDowell was sent to the rail.

"Luckbox" Brewer Saved on River

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Michael Brewer
Michael Brewer

The very next hand after Seale busted Chadbourne, he found himself involved in yet another big pot as he, Michael Brewer, and Keith Murrell all got the chips in preflop, with Seale covering.

Michael "Luckbox" Brewer: J8
Keith "Master Bluffer" Murrell: AA
Jacob Seale: AK

Murrell was in a great position to scoop a huge pot, but as luck would have it, the board ran out 485Q8 to give Brewer trip eights on the river to scoop the main pot. Fortunately for Murrell, he was still able to take the sizeable side pot with his aces.

Current Champion Phan Looking to Retain Title; Seale Looking for Redemption

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Nam Phan
Nam Phan

Nam Phan, the 2019 RGPS Kansas City Main Event champion has been spotted in the field with a healthy stack of 57,000.

Meanwhile, at the adjacent table, Jacob Seale is also in the mix with a stack of 26,000. Seale was the runner-up to Phan in 2019 after the two agreed to a chop and played for an additional $5,000 and the RGPS ring.

Phan secured the win when the two got it all in with Seale holding ace-king against Phan's pocket deuces. Phan ended up flopping a set and managed to fade a flush draw on the river to take down the first-place prize of $42,428.

With the way things are looking for this series, that prize money will be more than doubled for this event so both players will have to bring their A-game if they want to be crowned champion.

For the first time since 2019, the RunGood Poker Series is back bigger and better than ever in its return to the Harrahs property here in Kansas City. This long-awaited arrival of the GPI's Mid-Major Tournament Series of the Year has already resulted in record turnouts for this location.

The $1,100 buy-in Main Event is guaranteed a $200,000 prize pool but its expectations are to completely smash that figure.

The first of three starting flights is set to begin today at 4 p.m. local time and will play until 12.5% of the field remains to bag up and return on Sunday for Day 2.

Players will start with 30,000 in chips and levels will be 30 minutes long starting at blinds of 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante.

There are unlimited re-buys for this event and registration will be open until the start of Level 9 where the length will then switch to 40 minutes per level. There will also be a 10-minute break approximately every 2 hours (every four levels until Level 9 and every three afterward).

The PokerNews reporting team will be on-site providing all of the updates in the RGPS Main Event until a winner is crowned on Sunday, so stay tuned!
