Huge Double for McDowell; McCabe Exits

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

After some back and forth, Ben McCabe made it 40,100 to go but was then shoved on by Sam McDowell for 127,500.

McCabe then went deep into the tank to consider his options, but after a while tossed in a chip for a call and the hands were tabled with McDowell at risk.

Sam McDowell: AA
Ben McCabe: AK

McDowell was in great shape to double up with his aces but still had a good sweat when the flop came out 3K10 to give McCabe a pair of kings and a backdoor diamond draw.

Fortunately for him, the board ran out 106 to secure his victory and awarded him the huge pot for the double-up.

McCabe was left with around 14,00 after that exchange and got it all in the very next hand with ace-four against his opponent's pocket kings and was eliminated after failing to improve.

Covert Stays Alive

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Short-stacked Ron Covert got his stack of 27,500 into the middle preflop against WSOP bracelet winner Grant Hinkle.

Ron Covert: A10
Grant Hinkle: AQ

"Come on hearts, whole lotta hearts!" Covert shouted into the universe.

Someone seemed to have heard him as the flop came out 474 to give him the flush draw he was seeking. The turn came the 3 which meant Hinkle was still in the lead, but the 10 on the river gave Covert the win with a pair of tens to take the pot for a double up.

Covert then moved all in under-the-gun the very next hand which resulted in folds all around to award him the blinds.

O'Dell KOs McDowell

Rodney Spriggs opened to 10,500 from early position but was then immediately three-bet to 28,000 by Dakotah O'Dell to his left. Then Sam McDowell four-bet jammed for 190,000 and action folded back around to Spriggs who reluctantly folded while O'Dell snap-called to put him at risk.

Sam McDowell: KK
Dakotah O'Dell: AA

Things were not looking good for McDowell and his kings against O'Dell's rockets, and the runout of 44299 changed nothing and O'Dell was awarded the massive pot while McDowell was sent to the rail.
