The new year is upon the poker world, and with it comes a new season of The RunGood Poker Series, starting off at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The tour’s first stop saw a total of nine events, with the largest being the $600 Main Event, with Flight 1a starting at 6 PM tonight and boasting a $100,000 guarantee on the prize pool.

Two massive promotions are going to be in effect this season. For starters, for every side event this season they will ship a care kit out and for every main event, ten care kits. In addition, RGPS will be selling Limited Edition RGPS Checkpoint hats where for every purchase, a care kit will also be sent out to our service members abroad. The second promotion will see the inclusion of the dream seat, which will see one player make their way to PGT freeroll at the end of the year.

Last September saw a total of 472 entries come out to play this event. After the dust settled, it was Shantanu Garg who ended up taking home the lion’s share of the prize pool for $40,555. Garg’s first live victory saw him taking home not just his first RGPS ring, but his first live victory ever.

Players will begin with 30,000 in chips, with the blinds beginning at 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. Every level will last 30 minutes, with 15-minute breaks after every four levels. After level 8, players will go on their final break before registration closes. Play will continue until 12.5% of the field remains, which will see the remaining players bag up and move onto to Day 2, where they will all be in the money. Those who do not find a bag, will be able to exercise their right to re-enter tomorrow for the following two flights.

Speck Misses One Draw, Hits Another

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Action was picked up on the flop between Raymond Speck in the small blind, another player in the big blind, and one player in the hijack.

Action checked around on the flop of {4-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} to the hijack who bet 1,500, getting a call from both players.

The same action repeated on the {2-Spades} turn, with the bet size going up to 3,000.

On the river, Speck lead for 6,100, eliciting two quick folds. Speck smiled and turned over {3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a rivered straight as he raked in the pot.

At another table, Dale Schuman entered, fresh off of his final table last night.

McMillen Scoops A Big One

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Two players called in first and second position, as well as one player in the hijack. In the cutoff, a player raised to 1,800 which saw the button call as well as Jeffrey McMillen in the big blind. Of the remaining players, only the hijack called and the flop was seen four ways.

The flop of {6-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts} saw McMillen bet 3,000, which only the cutoff and button called.

McMillen sized up on the {5-Spades} to 5,000 and both players called once more.

On the {4-Diamonds} river, McMillen put out a bet to the tune of 10,000. Both players folded and McMillen took down a massive four-way pot early into the night.

Kirby Sends One Out The Door

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Action was picked up on the flop between three players, including Jackie Kirby from second position.

With 3,100 in the center, and a board reading {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, the player in the big blind bet 1,500. The player in first position moved all in for 11,200, which saw Kirby move all in for 27,700. The big blind player folded and both players turned their hands up.

Under the gun: {j-Spades}{9-Spades}
Jackie Kirby: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}, bringing no help to the straight draw of the under the gun player and Kirby sent one out the door early.

Lewis Loves Ladies

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Action was picked up with Trevor Lewis all in and at risk for his last 18,600, after one player had called to put him at risk, and Alex Young moved all in for 36,400 to force out the other player.

Trevor Lewis: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Alex Young: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Lewis was behind and in need of help, which materialized on the {q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop, giving Lewis a full house. The turn {4-Spades} and river {a-Diamonds}
gave no improvement to the pocket kings and Lewis' queens full was good for the full double up.
