Late Night Drama for MESODI

Level 14 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

In a duel under the gun versus plus one, the chips went into the middle for nearly 30 big blinds a piece and MESODI was the player at risk with KK versus AA. The aces were cracked on the Q63J2 runout and MESODI doubled. Only one hand later, the table broke and the players parted ways with now around 80 hopefuls still in contention.

kaoru2 Wins a Healthy All-In

Level 14 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

The chips went in after the KJQ3 turn and kaoru2 had the best of it with 107 against his table neighbour, who was at risk holding the AK for the top pair. All their remaining 80,000 chips were pushed one spot over as the 8 river was already meaningless.

Shunya Has the Better Ace

Level 14 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Shunya raised from the cutoff to 10,000 and then called a three-bet shove by the button for around 35,000 with the AQ. He was up against an inferior ace albeit suited, as the button tabled the AJ.

The KQ59K runout kept Shunya ahead all the way and a few moments later, another table broke as the late night action continued to wreak havoc on Day 1a.

Late Night Surge From shika0415

Level 14 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

shika0415 had previously doubled for 71,000 with AJ versus A7 thanks to a board of 633J5.

He then called the all-in of a shorter stack but none of the players behind fell for his trap with AA. The at-risk player had K9 and found no miracle escape on the 4332J runout.

Late Night Double for iZ

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

After their stack had plummeted all the way to 45,500, iZ was all-in with the A7 and marginally ahead against a bigger stack with the A6. While a split pot was likely, the 1094710 board paired up iZ for the double.

Triple Up With King-Queen-High For kwgs

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

A short-stacked kwgs jammed their chips into the middle and earned two callers, with both active players checking down the 95298 board. Ready to leave, kwgs leaped out of their chair and flipped over his KQ for only king-queen high. His first opponent flashed the J10 and the latter couldn't beat him with K10 either to secure the triple up.

With only nine tables still in the mix, the field has been reduced to approximately 72 hopefuls. Further casualties are expected before the opening flight draws to an end.

Working on a GIAN(T) Stack

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

GIAN opened to 12,000 from under the gun and received three callers including Jean-Laurent Minier in the next seat. When checked to on the A105 flop, GIAN continued for 15,000 and two players came along. He then bet the 8 turn for 43,000 and Minier folded, as did the small blind.

The big stack in the big blind mentioned he folded ace-jack, while Minier said he had king-queen with the queen of diamond. "King high flush," GIAN replied in English - well, some of the poker terms are universal, it seems.

There weren't that many chips in the middle until the Q5342 river when the action escalated between Yoshihiro and his opponent. Eventually, more than 200,000 apiece made their way in with Yoshihiro having the best of it with 66 for the six-high straight, which beat the AJ of his opponent.

iZ Falls Before the End

iZ first doubled their short stack with A7 versus KQ thanks to a board of 54395. However, they didn't make it to the end of the day as 77 flopped versus A9.

Sizuku had the best of it on a board of Q96109 for trips nines to score the knockout.

Shortly after, another shorter stack went all in with the A7 preflop at the wrong time with kaoru2 waiting to snap him off holding the AK, sending another player out after the 952J4.
