Over on table 402, mikuriya was spotted with a very healthy stack during the opening stages and most of that was due to a clash when his J♠J♣ flopped a set on a board of Q♥J♥7♣4♠3♣. His opponent could not get away from A♦A♠ and joined the early casualties on a frantic day so far.
Earlier this month at Downstream Casino, RunGood Poker Series ambassador Daniel Lowery emerged victorious in the RGPS Main Event, defeating Justin Dreiling heads-up to claim the top prize of $74,398 and the coveted RGPS ring.
With over $3.7 million in career poker earnings and 18 WSOP Circuit rings to his name, Lowery is no stranger to the winner’s circle, but conquering a 496-entry field in the Main Event made this win feel a little more special.
Although Lowery already held several RGPS rings, this marked his first Main Event victory—something he reflected on after the win. “It feels good. I’ve been close a lot of times in these RunGood Main Events, so to finally win and have that as an accolade is cool,” he said. He also touched on what it meant to earn the title as a series ambassador: “Any win feels good, but being able to represent our brand, have a great time here all weekend, and finish strong—it just feels really good.”
Over on table 411, there was yet another all-in showdown and once again, Yuya was involved and he had the chance to eliminate two players while being at risk against his immediate table neighbour.
The A♦A♠ of Yuya were in prime position against the 10♦9♦ of his table neighbour, while Morisho was at risk for 25,000 with the 7♦7♥ for 24,100.To his right, another player was also involved holding the K♥K♣ with a stack of 39,800 total. All of this unfolded preflop!
On a board of 7♣5♠4♣4♠10♥, Morisho flopped a set and turned a full house to quadruple up in the main pot. Yuya won the side pot and nearly tripled up, knocking out one player and leaving another short.
In the fourth level of the day, the third flight has garnered some 154 entries so far and more than one and a half dozen shells were already emptied in a far more fast-paced opening stage compared to yesterday. The total field size is now approaching four digits with more than four levels of late registration for Day 1c and the entire turbo heat 1d to follow.
Joining the action on the J♥10♠4♥4♣ turn, Ryoga checked from under the gun and then called a bet worth 3,000. That led them to the J♦ on the river and Ryoga now pushed all-in for what appeared to be around 10,500 chips. No exact count was asked upon, as his opponent snap-folded.
Having more than doubled his stack, then tripled in a side pot, got short and eventually bowed out as he told the bad news to YUKI the Ultimate Weapon one table over. His J♣9♣ was up against 10♠9♠ and the K♠6♠2♣8♦Q♠ board provided the flush on the river.
Three ways to the 5♦3♠2♥K♣ turn with around 25,000 in the middle, both Akira in the small blind and the player under the gun checked. CHENG on the button bet 13,500 and Akira then check-raised all-in with a large stack. The under-the-gun player called all-in for 15,400 and CHENG talked through the options, feating a wheel or set before folding K♦3♦ face-up.
Under the gun: K♠4♠
Akira: 6♣4♣
The player at risk needed a six to chop and the A♠ river was a blank. Akira joined Shinya with a six-figure stack.
The first four levels of 35 minutes each, the field has increased to around 183 entries which has since been culled down to 144 players already. All those with chips at their disposal are now on a 10-minute break, however, many players don't leave the arena and instead remain at their tables.
