Strohm Eliminates Foster

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Paul Strohm
Paul Strohm

Mary Foster jammed for 33,000 from under the gun, and Paul Strohm three-bet shoved for 185,000 in middle position.

"Just tryin' to help you!" Strohm said after everyone folded.

Mary Foster: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}
Paul Strohm: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Most of the drama was taken out of the hand after the {a-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop left Foster looking for running cards, and they failed to materialize on the {5-Diamonds} turn and {9-Spades} river.

Hamm Rivers a One-Outer to Double Through Dockins

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Daniel Hamm
Daniel Hamm

On the river of a {2-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} board, Daniel Hamm committed his last 142,500 chips after an Andrew Dockins shove, and with good reason: Hamm held {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for rivered quads.

Dockins could only shake his head after he showed the {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} from his hand for a turned set and rivered full house, and he parted with nearly half of his stack in the process.

Patrick Watkins jammed for around 50,000 from early position, and was at risk against Daniel Cain next to act.

Patrick Watkins: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Daniel Cain: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

Cain's aces would get no sweat on a {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} runout to eliminate Watkins.

Matzinger Coolers Backus as the Bubble Looms

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Brad Backus
Brad Backus

Paul Matzinger limped in from early position, and Brad Backus raised to 26,000 in the big blind. Matzinger three-bet to 55,000, and Backus called.

Backus checked the {6-Spades}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop, and Matzinger instantly announced, "All in," and flicked a chip into the pot to confirm the bet. Backus tanked for a minute, at one point asking Matzinger, "Do you have the aces?" then slammed in a call for his last 140,000.

Paul Matzinger: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Brad Backus: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Backus was correct on his read, and Matzinger claimed the last of Backus's chips after the {2-Clubs} turn and {7-Spades} river failed to bring in a king for Backus.

Marvin Donaldson Bubbles RGPS Council Bluffs

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Marvin Donaldson
Marvin Donaldson

Marvin Donaldson jammed for 45,000 on the third hand of hand-for-hand play from the small blind, and Zach Davidson called in the big blind.

Marvin Donaldson: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Zach Davidson: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Donaldson improved to a full house on the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop, but one of the worst cards in the deck peeled off on the {10-Diamonds} turn, giving both players quads, but Davidson's ace-kicker was in front. Donaldson's only hope was for an ace on the river to chop, but he ended up as the bubble boy when the {9-Clubs} river hit the felt.

Brad Sjostrom
Brad Sjostrom

Brad Sjostrom raised to 15,000 from the cutoff, and Jose Bermudes three-bet to 41,000 in the big blind. Sjostrom four-bet shoved for 100,000 and Bermudes called.

Brad Sjostrom: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Jose Bermudes: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

Bermudes hit top set on the {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop to leave Sjostrom looking for running cards for quads or a straight to survive. The {q-Clubs} turn and {3-Diamonds} river blanked off, and Sjostrom was eliminated.

"What took you so long?" O'Brien asked.

Jeremiah Slough
Jeremiah Slough

After an open from Dave Queen in the hijack, Jeremiah Slough three-bet shoved for 148,000 on the button. Action folded back to Queen, who snap-called for 140,000.

Dave Queen: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Jeremiah Slough: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Slough was drawing dead by the turn of a {j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} runout, and he parted with almost all of his chips in the process. Slough was unable to rally and busted a short time later.
