Shawn Privat Chip Leader & Josh Turner Close Behind After Day 1b of RGPS Kansas City Main Event

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Josh Turner

The second of three starting flights is over and 33 players have booked their seats in Day 2 of the RunGood Poker Series Kansas City $575 Main Event.

The field for Friday's flight drew 164 runners and at the end of the day it was Shawn Privat who bagged the biggest stack with 274,000. Josh Turner made a last-minute run for the chip lead.

Shortly before the players bagged, Turner played a huge pot against Tom Hudson. Hudson said he opened and then called Turner's three-bet shove with pocket kings. Turner had jacks, but made a flush and took down the massive pot — eliminating Hudson.

A few of the more recognizable players in the field made it through. PokerNews podcast and Big Blind host [Removed:139] bagged 36,000 and Kevin "Kevmath" Mathers, the WSOP Twitter Czar and most likely everyone's favorite twitter follow, bagged 67,500. Kevmath was responsible for eliminating Barstool Nate after the latter lost with tens against aces to leave himself short.

The third and final flight of the RGPS Kansas City $575 Main Event will start tomorrow at noon. All the updates and photos for the entire tournament can be found right here on PokerNews.com.

"Uneventful Start" For Barstool Nate

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Barstool Nate and [Removed:139]
Barstool Nate and [Removed:139]

Barstool Nate took his seat about halfway through level two after finishing up with the RunGood Family dinner, a tradition during the RGPS main events.

After a few minutes and some losing hands, Nate raised to 400 from the middle position.

"I've played three hands and I've lost three hands," he said shortly before raising.

He got one caller from the small blind.

The flop came {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and the small blind checked. Nate bet 500 and his opponent called.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and Nate bet 1,200 after the small blind checked again. This time the small blind folded.

Nate raised the next hand, making it 400 to go again.

He got called from the big blind and went heads up to the {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop.

The big blind check-called 500.

The turn was the {4-Spades} and the big blind checked again. Nate bet 1,100 and took down the pot to make it two in a row.

On the third hand, Nate raised again. Another raise to 400, but this time he was three-bet by the player to his immediate left. Paul Strohm called the 1,100 from the big blind and Nate also called.

The three players checked the {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop.

Strohm led for 2,500 when the {5-Clubs} hit the turn.

Both Nate and the three-bettor folded and Strohm took down the pot.

The second of three starting flights of the RunGood Poker Series $575 Main Event at Harrah's North Kansas City is set to begin at 7 p.m. The opening flight drew 111 entries and saw 26 players move forward to Day 2.

The players will start with 20,000 and have a dozen 30-minute levels to find their way into the Day 2 flight as well. The flight is expected to be a little larger than last night's as players will want to try and bag tonight in order to have a day off Saturday.

Each of the preliminary events has drawn a bigger crowd than the Kansas City stop earlier this year. This stop is the last chance for players to get their hands on one of the Signature Championship rings.

Among the players expected in the field tonight are "Barstool Nate" of Barstool Sports making his first appearance at a RunGood Poker Series event. Also, poker media veteran Kevin "Kevmath" Mathers will be in the field tonight.

All the updates and photos from the entire Main Event will be right here on PokerNews.com.
