Pardo Busts in First Hand

Level 20 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

From the cutoff, Juan "Malaka$tyle" Pardo raised for the vast majority of the stack and then called the shove of Niklas "Lena900" Astedt in the small blind.

Juan "Malaka$tyle" Pardo: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Niklas "lena900" Astedt: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

The {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop gave both players a draw but neither the {6-Spades} turn nor the {2-Clubs} river changed anything to eliminate Pardo in 15th place.

The next high stakes progressive knockout tournament of the 2020 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) will be crowned and 15 players out of 117 entries remain in contention for the lion's share of the $1,170,000 prize pool in Event-33-H: $10,300 NLHE PKO High Roller.

A quick glance at the remaining contenders reveals the who-is-who of the online poker scene and Andras "probirs" Nemeth leads the pack with a stack of 7,639,469. Nemeth already has two SCOOP titles under his belt from previous years and he is followed by another legend of online poker.

Niklas "Lena900" Astedt has been highly-ranked on Pocket Fives throughout the last few years and earned four SCOOP titles already, he will return for the final day second in chips with 5,017,949 while Teun "tinnoemulder" Mulder is in third with 3,842,414.

Further former SCOOP champions with a shot at a repeat title are Christian "WATnlos" Rudolph (1,867,620), Thomas "WushuTM" Muehloecker (1,867,620), Michael "imluckbox" Addamo (1,857,154), Sam "SamSquid" Grafton (951,821), Joni "bustoville" Jouhkimainen (781,484), Francisco "Tomatee" Benitez (669,777), three-time champion Juan "Malaka$tyle" Pardo (560,096) and five-time winner Rui "RuiNF" Ferreira (559,486).

Will the Hungarian be able to close it out and earn another SCOOP title? A min-cash comes with a payday $10,691.40 whereas the winner takes home a cash prize of $113,785.25. The progressive bounties will play a pivotal role to boost the bankroll on the final day, the smallest bounty up for grabs so far is $5,000 while Nemeth has a target of $47,500 on his head already.

When the action resumes with around 18 minutes remaining at blinds of 20,000/40,000 and a running ante of 5,000, six of the remaining 15 hopefuls are below or just above 20 big blinds. The PokerNews live reporting team will be there from start-to-finish for what shapes up to be an exciting day of online poker.
