Dawn Dixon is up in Niagara Falls, NY from Kentucky, celebrating her wedding anniversary with her husband Chris by playing a little poker.
Mr. Dixon bagged up some 170,000 in the early flight today and the Mrs. is looking good to book her own ticket to Day 2 Sunday on over 80,000 here in Level 9.
Dixon got there on a rush that started when she got it in short with and managed to make two pair to crack kings. By the end of it she had 81,500 in her stack and had just doubled huge, getting it all in with a set of eights against a turned straight before boating up on on the river.
Top local rounder Todd Saffron has pushed into the chip lead as the evening flight wears on.
He's the first player past the 100,000-chip mark here and in the driver's seat thanks to a couple of key pots, including making the nut straight over another straight, and a lot of small ones.
"I'm just winning a lot of small pots, catching a few bluffs and really just taking my share," he said with a smile.
It's local poker stud Alex Rivera's birthday and after dinner with the family, he turned up to play a little cards, firing a single bullet into this evening flight.
So far things are working out quite nicely, as Rivera dragged a big pot with a set of fours, and is currently rolling over the table winning pot after pot without showdown all the way up close to 90,000.
