Event 5: $50 No-Limit Hold'em

Day 1e Started

Day 1e Ready To Go

Seneca Niagara
Seneca Niagara

The fifth of six starting flights for Event #5, a $50 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em tournament, will begin at 11 a.m. this morning.

This is the final day to get into the event with the sixth starting flight also set for 7 p.m. this evening. The first four played out Monday and Tuesday with 561 total entries and 67 survivors, putting the event well on its way to smashing its $25,000 Guarantee.

Players get 10,000 in tournament chips and will play 15 20-minute levels or until just 12 percent of the total entries remain.

Unlimited re-entries are permitted up until the start of the 13th level and players can jump in as many starting flights as they like, carrying the biggest stack forward to the final day.

The affordable buy-in and re-entry format was designed to attract both veteran rounders and recreational players and has done so thus far with field sizes growing by the session. Being the last day to build a stack for Day 2, these sessions promise to be the busiest of the bunch.

Slow Start

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

It's a slow start in comparison to last night's Day 1d which saw a total of 204 entries.

So far the board reads just 51 entries with a few latecomers still making their way to the cage to register.

Back At It

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

Just a few short hours removed from taking a huge beat in last night's Day 1d, Randy Lingenfelter is back at it today.

Lingenfelter had built a chip lead stack before Shayne Shackelford cracked his aces, moving on to create a massive lead on the rest of the field as play wrapped up.

Lingenfelter eventually went broke and begins anew today with a fresh shot at building a contending stack for tomorrow's Day 2.

After making the final tables in both Event #1 and Event #3 at the beginning of the 2015 Western New York Poker Challenge, Rob Davis is performing a little heat check here on Day 1e of Event #5.

He's off to a hot start as well, having made the call with pocket nines when an opponent shoved eights to double him up.

Peter Raimondi

Peter Raimondi has jumped out to the early lead after raking in a big pot.

He bumped it to 600, getting two callers to a {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{j-Diamonds} flop. It checked around, but he continued for 1,400 and both players flatted on the {5-Spades} turn.

Finally, when one opponent bet 2,650 on the {9-Spades} river, Raimondi pushed in for 7,950 total. The third player in the hand called, but folded when the player who led out pushed all in for more, revealing {k-Spades}{j-Spades} for the second nut flush.

Unfortunately for him, it was Raimondi who had {a-Spades}{q-Spades} for the nut flush and scooped it all.

Chasing 100

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Each of the first four starting flights for this event has seen at least 100 entries.

While Day 1e is not there yet, it is certainly on it's way with the board currently reading 71 and the appearance of a slow but steady stream of players ready to enter and re-enter constantly flowing towards the cage.
