Back-to-Back Pots for 'Poker Queen' Maria Parlatore

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Maria Parlatore, 2014 Golden Nugget Poker Queen Ladies Champion, has jumped into the chip lead after taking down back-to-back pots here on Day 1A.

Calling in Disgust
In a four-way limped pot, on a board reading {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, both the hijack and cutoff checked to the button who made it 1,500 to go. Parlatore was in the small blind and called, as did the hijack and cutoff.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds}, and everyone checked to the river, which was the {6-Spades}. The hijack led out for 3,500, and the button quickly called. Parlatore cut out chips and said, "I'm calling in disgust. Flush" and tabled {9-Spades}{5-Spades}. The hijack revealed {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for a slightly smaller flush, and the button mucked his cards, sending the pot Parlatore's way.

The Knockout
The player under the gun limped in, and the player in early position raised to 1,000. Parlatore was in the cutoff and called, as did the player under the gun.

The flop came {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. The under-the-gun player checked, and the original raiser bet 1,500. Parlatore called, and the player under the gun folded.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds}, and the player in early position led out for 1,000. Parlatore called for a second time. The river was the {j-Spades}, and her opponent led out for 1,000 again. Parlatore instantly went all in, and her opponent called. She tabled {k-Spades}{5-Spades} for trip fives, and her opponent showed {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} before sending his cards into the muck.
