Louis Tomassi: A Triple Up and a Chip Up!

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

In just two hands, Louis Tomassi has managed to grow his stack tremendously.

The Triple Up
On a board reading {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, Tomassi got his remaining 11,200 chips in the middle with {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} against two players holding {k-Spades}{6-Spades} and {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}.

The turn was the {j-Spades}, and the entire table gasped as Tomassi made his straight. The river was the insignificant {3-Clubs} and Tomassi tripled up.

The Chip Up
Tomassi was in early position and raised to 2,000. Action folded around to Mike Bracci in the big blind and he decided to defend.

The flop came {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}, and Bracci checked to Tomassi who made it 2,500 to go. Bracci called.

The turn was the {q-Clubs}, and both players checked.

The river was the {5-Hearts}. Bracci checked for a third time, and Tomassi fired out a bet of 10,000. Bracci quickly called and saw he was beat by Tomassi's {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} with the nut flush.

Paul McLean Flushes Out Jianming Sun

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The player under the gun limped, as did Paul McLean from middle position. The cutoff raised to 2,800 and Jianming Sun cold-called from the small blind. Both the under-the-gun player and McLean also called.

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Sun and the under-the-gun player both checked to McLean, who bet 5,000. The cutoff folded, and Sun called. The under-the-gun player folded.

The turn was the {8-Clubs}. Sun led out for 15,000, and McLean went all in for slightly more then Sun had behind. Sun snap-called.

McLean: {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Sun: {A-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The river was the {6-Spades} and Sun was eliminated, sending the pot McLean's way.

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

A player in early position raised to 3,000, and the button moved all in for 20,000. Elleke Van Heumen was in the small blind and moved all in for 25,000. The original raiser folded and the hands were tabled.

Van Heumen showed {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}, while her opponent tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. "Don't do it, Sam!" she exlaimed to the dealer.

The board ran out {8-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and Van Heumen just about doubled up while sending her opponent to the rail.

Andy Martin Triples Up

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

A player in middle position limped in, as did the player on the button. Andy Martin was in the small blind and moved all in for his remaining 7,000. The big blind called, and then the player in middle position moved all in. The button folded, as did the big blind.

Martin tabled {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, while his opponent showed {a-Spades}{k-Spades}.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, giving Martin's opponent top pair but giving him outs with the only diamond in hand.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds}, and Martin secured the triple up as the insignificant {5-Clubs} fell on the river.

Scott Aitchison Gets Called by Bottom Pair

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Scott Aitchison started the day with a quick double up but has been fairly quiet since then. He finally found himself involved in a big pot and got the double up he needed to chip up.

With about 15,000 in the pot, on a board reading {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, the small blind checked and Aitchison bet 9,500. The small blind called.

The river was the {7-Clubs}. The small blind checked again. Aitchison thought about it for a moment and then moved all in for his remaining 15,200. The small blind didn't think very long before deciding to call. Aitchison tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for top pair, top kicker. His opponent tabled {4-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for bottom pair and then tossed his cards into the muck.
