Kross' Triple-Range Merge

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Nathan Kross
Nathan Kross

Local cash game grinder Nathan Kross admits he's at a bit of a disadvantage when it comes to tournament play, but he's trying to do something about it.

He's started studying preflop ranges and brought a sheet with him tonight to advise him as he weaves his way through the field in this flight.

It all seemed to work out perfectly moments ago when he joined one relatively short player in calling an 800-chip open. They went three ways to a {3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop and checked to the original raiser, who bet 1,600.

The shorty shoved for 4,750, Kross called, and the raiser came along as well. The {2-Clubs} turn saw Kross ship it in and the original raiser fold. Kross showed two nines for the flopped set, and when the shorty showed two tens, the original raiser claimed the same.

Drawing dead, shorty picked up his things and left as the river bricked and Kross went back to studying his ranges with heaps more to play around with.

Werstler Wrestles Away The Lead

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Tomasz Werstler
Tomasz Werstler

Niagara Falls, Canada's Tomasz Werstler has grabbed hold of the chip lead now, and has no intention of letting it go.

The big hand that saw him push up to the top of the counts started with a raise to 500 and eight players calling. Werstler fired 2,500 at a {K-}{6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop and one player behind raised to 12,000. A third player called, and Werstler shipped for the 18,500 he had behind.

Both players called and Werstler's set of tens was in the lead over a set of sixes and a flush draw. The board bricked out and Werstler suddenly found himself with a close to 60,000-chip stack nearing the end of Level 4.

The Local Legend

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Dan Wagner
Dan Wagner

The legend of Dan Wagner continues to grow. Coming off a third-place finish at the Western New York Poker Challenge Main Event right here at Seneca this past Spring, The West Seneca, NY local spent the summer in Las Vegas, cashing for around $75,000 in various tournaments in and around the World Series of Poker.

After busting the early flight in this event this afternoon, Wagner is trending upwards in Level 6 tonight. He three bet eights getting one cold caller, who floated another bet on an {a-}{4-}{2-} board with one heart. The turn came the {8-Hearts} and after Wagner fired 4,200, his opponent shoved for 15,000. Wagner called and faded a heart against the {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}.

Pachla Punts on Second Down

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Alicia LaPorte Pachla
Alicia LaPorte Pachla

It was strike two and another sob story for Seneca tourney reg Alicia LaPorte Pachla tonight.

After busting out early in the early flight, she made it to Level 6 tonight, only to get kings cracked. Tilted, she ran {k-}{10-} into {a-}{k-} for the rest and fell to ace-high.

Pachla will not be playing Saturday, and although reentry is still available tonight, she's decided two swings and misses are more than enough for Event #2 on the 2016 Seneca Niagara Falls Summer Slam schedule.

Skip Letourneau
Skip Letourneau

In a series of two hands, Palmetto, FL's Skip Letourneau went from a friend of the notorious Johnny Vegas, here working in Western New York for the summer, to chip boss, denying all knowledge of Mr. Vegas' existence and trying to avoid him altogether.

It all started with an early position raise to 1,500 that Letourneau flatted on the button. The small blind jammed in for around 13,000 and after the raiser folded, Letourneau snap-called with the {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}. He was up against the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and took it home on a no-sweat {3-Hearts}{q-Spades}{6-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} run out.

A hand later, Letourneau was at it again, calling an {a-}{q-} shove on a {j-}{10-}{5-} flop with naught but the {k-}{10-}. Once again, Letourneau faded all trouble was just seen eyeing up another players chips with Vegas attempting to photobomb him in the background.
