Cruz Ventura Nuts Up

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Calvin Cruz Ventura
Calvin Cruz Ventura

A player in early position limped and Calvin Cruz Ventura made it 3,800. Sharman Olshan defended her big blind and the limper passed.

Olshan checked the {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop and Cruz Ventura bet 4,800. Olshan called and checked the {q-Spades} turn. Cruz Ventura bet another 6,800 and Olshan called again. Finally, on the {2-Hearts} river, Olshan led for 12,500 and Cruz Ventura jammed for another 24,500.

Olshan called it off and mucked when Cruz Ventura showed the {a-Hearts}{j-Spades} for the nut straight.

Olivencia Over Deskovich

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Nate Olivencia
Nate Olivencia

Nate Olivencia has knocked Josh Deskovich out of the chip lead after a massive heads-up hand.

There was heaps in the middle already when Olivencia shoved two queens into a flop full of undercards. Deskovich tanked so long the clock was called, but eventually he made the call with two tens.

The turn and river bricked and Olivencia doubled big, sending Deskovich back to the drawing board.

Massive Suck Out Gives Thibideau The Lead

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jeff Thibideau
Jeff Thibideau

There was close to 50,000 in the pot already on a {2-Clubs}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} board to the turn when Toronto, Ontario, Canada's Jeff Thibideau jammed for 53,500, heads-up with David Battaglia.

Battaglia made the call with the {7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and was right, Thibideau had a gutshot and two overs with the {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. The river came the {8-Hearts}, making Thibideau the nut straight.

Battaglia was left stunned as Thibideau moved into a spot at the top of the counts heading into the last two levels of the flight.

The Plot Thickens

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Play tightened up in Level 14 and just three short stacks went broke, Including David Battaglia. The 32 players remaining head into the last level of the flight with Jeff Thibideau still sitting on the biggest stack.

They will now play down to 10 minutes left in Level 14, and then through a not-yet determined number of hands, with any and all survivors bagging up for Sunday's Day 2.

Three-Way All In Action

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

A three way all in pot just went down with Aaron Olshan holding the biggest stack and the best hand: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

Mike Davis had the worst of it with {10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and it wasn't looking to good for the third player's {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} needing a one outer.

The {9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{k-Spades}{6-Diamonds} board brought no surprises and Olshan served up the double knockout as the flight comes to a close.
