The Gift That Keeps On Giving

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Thomas Mader
Thomas Mader

Thomas Mader has moved into the top spot on the leaderboard after a massive hand vaulted him up to 175,000 in chips.

It started with an raise under the gun that Mader called with the {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. After an {a-}{2-}{X-} flop, Mader called another 4,000. The {2-} turn filled him up and when Mader's opponent bet 10,000, he raised to 25,000. There was a call and a {4-Hearts} river, after which Mader led for 25,000.

His opponent shoved for 10,000 more and Mader called with the boat. {A-}{Q-} hit the muck and Mader was left on top of 62 players remaining.

The Chopping Block

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Tom Scanlon made it 3,000 from middle position and Chuck Naughton called on the button.

Scanlon continued for another 3,000 on the {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop. Naughton called and they both checked the {k-Clubs} turn. The river came the {9-Diamonds} and it was checked again with Scanlon showing the {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and Naughton getting the lucky chop out of his {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

The River King

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Johannes Mueller got it all in with a fellow short stack, holding two kings against two tens.

It looked like Mueller would be left with only a chip and a chair when the flop came ten high, but after a brick on the turn, the river came a king, handing Mueller a new life and a 56,000-chip stack.

The Queens Are Dead

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Michelle Caldwell
Michelle Caldwell

A nice run by Michelle Caldwell was just ended by Corey Waszkielewicz and a nasty river card.

He checked an {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{j-Diamonds} flop and when she led out, he came over the top all in. Caldwell called off for her tournament life with the {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and was right, Waszkielewicz had nothing but the {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

The {4-Clubs} turn was a safe one for Caldwell's queens, but the {k-Spades} river did her in, giving Waszkielewicz two pair, the pot and her tournament life.

Pace Slows Down

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Bruce Pace was cruising and up over 200,000 when he opened to 2,500 and got four callers. He continued on a {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop for 10,000 and only the small blind called.

The {3-Hearts} turn was checked by both players, and the small blind led for 31,500 on the {k-Spades} river. Pace mulled it over for a moment before making the call and the small blind showed {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, cutting Pace down to size a little when he mucked.
