Johnson Leads; Burkett Busts; Break
Level 18
: 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
A huge three-way all in pot just vaulted Thomas Mader to a spot near the top of the counts, cut Jeff Kandefer down to size, and sent Jim Burkett out 27th.
Mader got it in on the flop with a set of nines, Kandefer had a set of jacks and Burkett an open-ended straight flush draw.
Burkett shipped the
turn that made Mader quads and Kandefer a boat, straightening out on the
river that was too little too late.
In the meantime, Charles Johnson has been hit by the deck, spiking a set of kings against aces, and holding with a pair of pairs to crest the 550,000 mark.
They head into a 10-minute break now with 26 remaining.
