A Hazy Shade of Winters

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Tony Winters
Tony Winters

Niagara Falls, NY's Tony Winters has seen two big pots vault him into a spot among the leaders now.

The first saw him crack kings with big slick when he turned an ace. The second was an up and down affair where he got it in with two jacks. He flopped a set, his opponent turned a straight, but he filled up on the river.

In the meantime, the board has pushed up over 100 entries and reentries for the flight. It's a packed house and should stay full for a little while longer with reentry available for four more levels.

Unfortunately, we will be without Michelle Grillo-Caldwell for the rest of the evening as she declined to fire another bullet when she busted moments ago. However, that should not discourage others from ringing the reentry bell, there's over $40,000 in the prizepool now and it goes up every time it dings.

Thomas Mader
Thomas Mader

Thomas Mader has taken the lead in Level 5 despite losing two all in pots.

Mader would have 70,000 already had he busted the two short stacks who moved in on him. Instead he'll settle for 45,000 after finding success in several other pots.

He had kings against queens and a weak king for heaps early. Plus, a number of straights and flushes since that time have helped him build a stack.

The Triple Knockout

Level 6 : 250/500, 50 ante
Blake Napierala
Blake Napierala

A big four-way all in pot has helped Blake Napeirala leap up to a spot among the leaders here in Level 6.

The money went in on a {10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop.

Napierala: {10-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Two Seat: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Six Seat: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Eight Seat: {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Napierala was ahead with a pair of tens, but the {a-Spades} turn card was not a good one for him. It looked like two players were going to chop it up, until the {k-Hearts} river was revealed, giving Napierala two pair.

He scooped up the chips and collected the triple knockout to push over 40,000 now.

Donk Gets Lucky

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante
Richie Bottenfield
Richie Bottenfield

By his own admission, Niagara Falls, Canada's Richie Bottenfield is just a “Donk getting lucky.”

If that's truly the case, it has been a really bountiful day for Bottenfield thus far, despite his lack of skill. In fact, all that luck has helped him ascended into chip lead position here in this sixth and final starting flight, heading into the day's second break.

He did recall one hand with jacks, but details be damned he's a 'Donk getting lucky' and PokerNews is not about to spoil that for him. Nobody puts baby in the corner!

In the meantime, the board reads a whopping 124 entries with one level of registration and reentry to come. Some 48 will return to play either 14 total levels or down to around 15 or 16 players, whichever comes first. We will endeavor to update those numbers once registration closes.

Maria Parlatore
Maria Parlatore

It may have taken four bullets to get there, but Maria Parlatore finally has a stack.

A pair of double ups, including {a-}{q-} versus {a-}{j-} and {a-}{8-} versus {7-}{7-} with an eight on the flop, certainly helped.

Now she's among the middle-of-the-flight chip leaders and hoping she'll be holding on to at least this much when it comes time to bag up.

"I'm not going to do anything stupid," she said. "It's just if I get bad beated or not."

Is beated a word? I guess it is now.
