There are two further opportunities today, September 5, for players to qualify for the final day of the €400 buy-in, €150,000 guaranteed SiGMA Poker Tour Malta Main Event at Portomaso Casino, with Day 1c due to kick off at 2 p.m. local time, and turbo flight Day 1d scheduled for 8 p.m.

A total of 24 players have already progressed from 166 entries across Days 1a-1b, with Dane Sebastian Mortensen (1,029,000) taking the current overall chip lead after bagging up over 20 starting stacks in Day 1b.

Mortensen has a healthy lead over Day 1a chip leader and EPT Barcelona Main Event final tablist, Tomasz Brzezinski of Poland (714,000), while Norwegian Jon Persent (646,000) rounds out the podium places. Remarkably, ten different nations are represented among the current front-runners, a testament to the universal appeal of this beautiful game.

SiGMA ambassadors Lukas Robinson, John Arne Riise and Drea Karlsen have all fired one bullet without success thus far, and they will no doubt be looking to alter that position in the coming days.

Day 1c will feature 30-minute levels, and players will sit down to a 50,000 starting stack at blind level 100/200, with a 200 big blind ante. Late registration is open until the start of Level 11, and players are permitted two reentries per flight.

Day 1d will follow the same format as Day 1c, with the clock being reduced to 20-minute levels. Players must find a bag to qualify for Day 2, with 15% of the field in each flight set to make the cut, which will secure a minimum cash worth €600.

Blinds will increase to 40-minute levels in Day 2 and play will continue until a winner is crowned.
