Morais Makes His Own Luck
Drea Karlsen opened to 700 under the gun, and received calls from Nuno Morais in the next seat and Oliver Said on the button, before Owen Sammut reached for chips and produced a three-bet to 4,500 from the small blind.
Karlsen called, and action moved to Morais. We saw yesterday that the Portuguese isn't a fan of folding if he can help it, and he eyed Sammut suspiciously, took a bit of time to count out his chips and consider the position, before he four-bet jammed for 22,600.
Said quickly got out of the way, Sammut promptly rejammed for around 75,000, and Karlsen folded.
Nuno Morais: J♥8♠
Owen Sammut: A♦K♦
Morais didn't have much, but he was only roughly a 65/35 dog versus Sammut.
Sammut will have liked the K♥Q♥9♦ flop, but the 3♥ turn gave Morais outs to the flush as well as his gutshot.
Much to Sammut's disgust, Morais got there both ways on the 10♥ river.
