Sebastian Mortensen
Sebastian Mortensen

Today represents the last opportunity for players to attempt to qualify for Day 2 of the €400 buy-in, €150,000 guaranteed SiGMA Poker Tour Malta Main Event, here at Portomaso Casino in sun-drenched St Julians.

Four starting flights have already taken place, attracting a total of 282 entrants, with 41 players managing to book their spots in the final day. The final starting flights take place today, September 6, with Day 1e kicking off at 11:00 a.m, and turbo flight Day 1f commencing at 8:00 p.m.

Day 1b chip leader Sebastian Mortensen of Denmark (1,029,000) is still the man to catch, being the only player to bag up a seven-figure stack, and he is followed by Day 1c chip leader and WSOP Online bracelet winner Jonathan Therme (849,000) and Micaela Arcusin (813,000), while EPT Barcelona final tablist Tomasz Brzezinski sits in fourth after taking the lead in Day 1a.

SiGMA ambassadors Lukas Robinson, Drea Karlsen and John Arne Riise have not managed to bag yet despite their best efforts. They are expected to be drinking in the last chance saloon today.

Day 1d will feature 30-minute levels, and players will sit down to a 50,000 starting stack at blind level 100/200, with a 200 big blind ante. Late registration is open until the start of Level 11, and players are permitted two reentries per flight.

Day 1e will follow the same format as Day 1d, with the clock being reduced to 20-minute levels. Players must find a bag to qualify for Day 2, with 15% of the field in each flight set to make the cut, which will secure a minimum cash worth €600.

Blinds will increase to 40-minute levels on Day 2, and play will continue until a winner is crowned.
