More for Appel and Language

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Four ways to the J54 flop, Sheldon Grove bet 7,500 when checked to and was called only by Hennie Appel on the button. They checked the 9 turn and Grove led the 10 river for 11,000. Appel raised to 30,500 and won the pot uncontested.

One table over, Mariette Language was all-in for 38,500 on the 853 flop and called by her earlier nemesis Wesley Blom.

Mariette Language: JJ All in
Wesley Blom: A3

"It's coming, I can feel it," Blom predicted. However, the jacks remained ahead on the 4 turn and 10 river for Language to double.

Heather-Clark Bounces Back

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Wesley Blom had won another big pot with a "bluff catcher" and then faced the open raise to 6,000 by Melissa Kalil, which he three-bet to 15,000. Quintin Heather-Clark four-bet jammed out of the big blind for 54,500 and Kalil reluctantly folded, Blom snap-called.

Quintin Heather-Clark: 88 All in
Wesley Blom: AK

Kalil sighed on the 942 as she flashed her mucked 99 that would have hit top set. Heather-Clark turned a set with the 8 to notch up the double before a meaningless K came on the river.

One table over, her brother Gareth Kalil won a pot without showdown when a second barrel for 26,000 on the J92810 river was enough to force out Caleb October.

Blom Strikes Again; Knocks Out Hadjipaschali

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Dimitri Hadjipaschali

Wesley Blom celebrated once more and this time it was a knockout, as he claimed the chips of table neighbour Dimitri Hadjipaschali. The latter had flopped trips kings with KQ but Blom rivered a full house with the AA on a board of KK4JA.

As he loudly declared the seat open for the floor to notice, there was another all-in one table over. The flop showed 654 and Cliton Taliwanth had jammed his short stack. Derrick Steenkamp was still to act and Taliwanth gritted his teeth to the announcement of Blom.

Ultimately, no call followed and Taliwanth raked in the pot with a big grin, he even flashed the 8.

Craig Hartland and Darren Kramer were the last two players to jump into the action and bump the field to 65 entries, of which the top 10 represent 15% of the field. Whether or not that number will be reached tonight remains to be seen.

There are currently 20 players remaining as Human Bergh bowed out soon after the action resumed.

Ah-Nien Goes Runner Runner for a Knockout

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Patrice Ah-Nien raised to 6,000 in the hijack and Craig Hartland jammed for 23,500 on the button. Quintin Heather-Clark in the big blind reluctantly folded and Ah-Nien called.

Craig Hartland: A9 All in
Patrice Ah-Nien: KJ

The 964810 board gave Ah-Nien running spades for a flush and Heather-Clark sighed "fuck me ... ace five of spades".

Appel Adds Some Chips

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Heads-up to the 5333 turn, Hennie Appel bet 8,500 from the big blind and Wesley Blom called from under the gun. Appel bet bigger on the J river and Blom folded rather quickly, exposing the AQ.

In the meanwhile, Melissa Kalil more than doubled her stack and even surpassed her brother Gareth one table over.

Non-Showdown Pot for KM

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

With one more elimination to go until the final two tables on Day 1a, KM defended the big blind against a button raise by big stack Hafiz Juma. He check-called the Q102 flop for 7,500 and then led the 10 turn for 12,000. Juma mulled it over for a short while and folded without using any time bank extension.

Wiegand Gets River Value From KM

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

On a completed board of 87376, KM checked out of the big blind. Wesley Wiegand bet 22,000 with around as much behind and KM reluctantly paid it off.

Wiegand rolled over the AK for an ace-high flush and KM shrugged, mentioned he had a seven and then paid off his opponent.
